US Political News and Trump’s China visit

As expected, Trump backtracks on campaign promises to lower grocery prices.

“’We will end inflation and make America affordable again, and we’re going to get the prices down, we have to get them down,’ Trump said at a rally. ‘It’s too much. Groceries, cars, everything. We’re going to get the prices down.'”

“Prices will come down,” Trump told voters during a speech last week laying out his vision for a return to the White House. “You just watch: They’ll come down, and they’ll come down fast, not only with insurance, with everything.”

Recall that it sounded exactly like him claiming that COVID would miraculously disappear. 😂

Contrary to what he said during the campaign, he has acknowledged in an interview with Time magazine that it will be challenging for him to lower consumer prices.

“It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up,” he told Time in an hourlong interview for its “Person of the Year” feature. “You know, it’s very hard.”

Economists had long held the view that Trump is merely making empty promises and will not be able to bring prices down.

And me too. Trump doesn't fool me.
Fair enough, you guys are US citizens.. I just watch from a distance, but with great interest.

Neither outcome would have been of much consequence for us 3rd world Indians here.

I like Trump, but.. don't mind me chiming in on your stuff every now and then :P

I conducted a quick research and discovered the following. The tweet wrongly conflate U.S.-China prisoner swap with Biden’s recent pardons.

Shanlin Jin, a Chinese national found guilty of having child pornography, was given clemency by Biden on November 22. The release of three Americans who had been held in China was made possible by this move as part of a prisoner exchange with China. Jin was ordered to leave the country right away and is prohibited from returning for good.

It's a complicated and contentious situation that exemplifies the delicate nature of international diplomacy.

Criticizing and “complaining” are essential components of democracy, Sharma Ji.
but I agree

"....greatest expression of patriotism" even, said some guy.
