I just checked RealClearPolitics, and their current average shows Democrats up by 8.6 points on the generic congressional ballot. Since RCP generally leans a bit Republican in how it selects and weights polls, an 8.6‑point lead is pretty significant. In past elections, a margin that big could have meant Democrats gaining 35–45 House seats. But after the 2024 redistricting fight, which Republicans mostly won, analysts say the House map is less responsive now. Even with an 8.6‑point lead, Democrats might realistically be looking at something closer to 10–25 seats, and only if that margin holds.

A big part of the Democrats’ current advantage is the Hispanic vote, which has shifted away from Trump in recent polling after his historic gains in 2024. But it’s not just Hispanics, issues like inflation, gas and diesel prices, job security, the Iran war, and concerns about AI and data‑center expansion are also weighing heavily on voters. Because of these combined factors, analysts say some GOP‑held districts in Hispanic‑heavy states like Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, and parts of California could be more vulnerable than expected.

Trump is just making a mountain out of a mole hill. Whenever he signs an agreement, he presents it as something huge, even when most of it is old policy. The Greenland agreement is basically the same framework the United States and Denmark have had for decades. The only real addition is that the US may expand its military presence there, which Denmark and Greenland have already said they would welcome. Nothing else is truly new.

There is also a clear contradiction. On one hand he says the US will expand its military presence. On the other hand, he claims there will be no additional cost. That is not realistic. Denmark, Greenland, and NATO are not going to pay for American military expansion. It will be the American taxpayer, especially at a time when people are already struggling. He simply does not want to admit that.

Just another day in the liberal enclave of California. Glad I have no reason to go there now. There are some major shooting events coming up at Coalinga and Twentynine Palms, Some of the folks here asked if I'd be going.

That was a hard "NO".

I am not going to defend California on homelessness. It is a real failure and the state government has not handled it well. But blaming it on California being a liberal state does not make sense. A state should be judged by its overall performance, not only by its worst problems.

California is still the richest state in the United States. If it were independent, its economy would rank around 4th in the world. It leads the country in Technology, High tech, Entertainment, Biotech, and Innovation. No other state comes close in those areas.

California is also a giver state. It sends far more money to the federal government than it receives back. On the other hand, many Republican states are taker states. They take more federal money than they contribute.

Republicans often brag about how self sufficient their model is, but the numbers tell a different story. Out of the ten poorest states in America, nine are Republican run. So if we are going to judge governance models, we should look at the whole picture, not just homelessness.

California has some serious problems, but it also has enormous strengths and contributes massively to the entire country.

JD Vance was saying the same thing. They both pushed the idea that Democrats would start a Middle East war, while Trump claimed he would keep America out of conflict with Iran.

But the way things have been going for him and his administration, I don't see that necessarily happening this time

Simple solution. Stop with the daily press briefings. The briefings are not legally mandatory. Only customary.

If the Administration stops holding them, the media has no standing for the courts to compel the Administration to hold them.
