Go back even further to the 2016 election. Hillary had made no bones about confronting Iran.

And now, here we are.

There’s no doubt Hillary Clinton had neo‑con instincts on Libya and Syria. But her approach to Iran was very different. As Obama’s Secretary of State, she spent eight years supporting his strategy of negotiatings with Iran rather than threatening war. She strongly defended the nuclear agreement as a peaceful, multilateral framework involving Europe, China, Russia, and the UN. During her 2016 campaign she kept that same position, enforce the deal, use sanctions if Iran violates it, and avoid military conflict. She never threatened war with Iran.

And when Netanyahu recently bragged about his “40‑year dream” of pushing the U.S. toward war with Iran, Clinton publicly reminded everyone that he came to the Obama administration with that same request, and they said NO.

Watching Trump and Mumdani appear together for a brief press event genuinely made me happy. This is exactly the kind of behavior I expect from our politicians. You can come from different parties, different policies, and completely different mindsets, but at the end of the day, the goal should be the same, serving the people. Seeing them stand side by side, even briefly, is a reminder of what leadership should look like.
