At the very least, if the Dems get control of the house, there has to be some actual oversight which is the Congress job to begin with.

At this point, GOP victory means a far right dictatorship in the US or something close. The Democrats are at least the lesser of two evils.

The current Far Right is better than the previous Far Left puppet that was blindly signing anything put in front of him by special interest groups. They hid it until the very end and it was too late for Kamala to take over.

No POTUS was ever "far left", even FDR was lukewarm centre left, more to the centre than any European leftist party in the 1950s-70s.

Obama and Biden both count as centre/centre right in current European politics.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly happy with Democrats either. Quite frankly, I'm sick of both parties.

But yeah, there has to be a change and there has to be oversight. That's the congress's job.

In my own opinion, Congress has been laughable since the 2008 election. Lots of evidence to back it up for those who care to look.

As for oversight, Congress started to abdicate that since The Patriot Act was signed into law. Any "oversight" now is more for theater and less for results.

Both parties have their respective agendas now and neither is good for the country.

The three branches of government. The legislative branch, the executive branch and the judicial branch.

I remember when Hunter Biden was being relentlessly investigated for selling some some paintings he made. A couple mil at most

That's peanuts compared to the billions Trump has made while in office in the last few years.

When he was running he said he wanted to clean the swamp. Well, he is the swamp.

Well a lot of that has to do with this notion that Westerners shouldn't be getting their hands dirty by doing "menial assembly line stuff"...so let's ship all that to developing countries and send all our people to college and give everybody cushy white collar jobs at desks and offices.

Well that little experiment didn't quite work.
We now have 40% of US households making over $100,000/yr being catered to while the other 60% are scrambling to stay afloat.

That's basically the bottom line. To make matters worse is when you have both spouses in white collar jobs...then you have large numbers of $200,000 income households who really have lots of clout...skewing things even more between the "haves" and "have nots".

That's when the big new houses start popping up everywhere and being sold quickly.

So there isn't an easy solution for wealth inequality. The US is a victim of its own success.
You going to ban two people from getting married or something? Tax them both at 75%??

How are you going to deal with a large number of $200,000 income households while others are lucky to make $50,000? That's a 4X gap that isn't going to go away easily. You've got one group shopping for $20/lb steaks at Whole Foods while the other is trying to find $5/lb ones at Walmart.
