Can you guys believe what has just happened? I'm still sitting here staring at the results in disbelief.

@Watandar
Hey man, just wanted to say you're missed around here. I was sorry to see you've been banned again. I genuinely enjoy reading your posts and hope you're back soon

SC and TX was a big shock for me, but Abdul's win is definitely worth going into history, terrible terrible mockery which was beneath POTUS office or any decent human being.

Kind of knew this was a bad night for the GOP before it began, but the shock is that this is much worse than I thought.

Dem is on track to get 56 Senate seats (Mississippi is now also in play). The GOP is probably done for in 2028; we are looking at 2 more years of nothing being done, which means the switch is going to be either equally as bad or worse than it was today

Not a surprise to be fair. Trumps policies are simply awful. He is a world embarrassment and the Americans are showing what they think of the racist uneducated fool. Beyond me how he actually got elected
Trump of 2016 or even 2024 hadn't done any of those bad things yet.

Besides, he's been a celebrity since the 1970s and even had his own tv show about business for like a decade. For tens of millions of regular Americans he was a guy who knows how to run things.

Honestly, I'm impressed. You're not even an American citizen yet, and you take more interest in this country and its elections than millions of people who already have the right to vote. Hopefully you'll become a citizen soon, man. America needs people like you.

I'm still trying to process these results myself. But one thing is certain, by tomorrow the media will be talking about 2028 and potential candidates will be quietly testing the waters.

I think it is pretty obvious that if Trump continues to run MAGA in 28, he is going to lose big. The problem is, even non-MAGA-type politicians (Iowa and Maine) lost their elections. If you are a non-MAGA type, would you want to run in 28?

Dem should use this (especially with the Governor blowout as well) to establish and touch base at the state level; there isn't much they can do in Federal level even if they had won big in both houses. They need to reform their party using the 26 result and build it in States level so there is something to show for, and then aim at 28.

For the Republican tho, I would say they are fuked either way.

You can say there is a certain perks of being a super power, when i was in Pakistan i never thought i will one day move here because its practically impossible to immigrate to US unless you have family here, or tons of money for student visa. But of course Effects of US elections are always felt across the world. And after I married my ex-wife and move to US now i was thinking i had to take some interest in a country i want to live, and have a family, have mixed kids (not anymore lol) so yeah if you are living here then take interest in politics, understand/learn/respect/cherish the country you are living in. I still disagree with US foreign policy, and will still call it out after (if i become US citizen) because that's my individual right. But you gotta admire how involved, passionate people become when it comes presidential or mid-term election, wish Pakistan someday see a proper fair and free election and some decent, no narassist leaders comes to power who actually fixes people problems.

THE MOTHER OF ALL VICTORIES.

After all the smears, all the attacks, and all the Islamophobia, and hate that surrounded this campaign, Abdul El-Sayed won.

Michigan voters looked past the noise and made history.

I am especially proud tonight because I donated to his campaign three different times. My donations were small, but I believed in him when plenty of people said it couldn't be done.

Now look at the math.

Democrats started the night with 47 Senate seats.

Democrats kept Georgia, New Hampshire, Minnesota, and Michigan.

Then Democrats took away seven Republican Senate seats: North Carolina, South Carolina, Iowa, Texas, Kansas, Ohio, and Maine.

That gives Democrats 54 Senate seats.

A few hours ago that sounded like fantasy.

And we're still not done. Alaska is still being counted, and even Mississippi remains on the board.

If you had shown me this Senate map a year ago, I would've laughed and called it impossible. Tonight it's reality.

What a victory. What a night!!!

People were not just angry, they were hungry... so Hangry lol, I heard a commentator not the news channel but some youtuber saying, Democrats mop the floor with Republicans, and Trumps's crash will be legendary.

I think that's a fair take. Trump is now a real lame-duck president. The Senate is gone, the House is gone, he's clearly showing his age, and after getting hammered like this, even in states Republicans thought were safe, I think his influence starts heading downhill. We'll find out pretty quickly who's still standing beside him and who's suddenly looking for the exit.

On the Democrat side, I completely agree. They should learn from Trump's 2024 coalition. He built a broad coalition, then blew it apart. If Democrats want to keep all these new voters, including independents, young people, Hispanics, and even some Republicans, they need policies that keep the whole coalition together. Otherwise, what happened to Trump's coalition could easily happen to theirs as well.

This means the Dem is going to pull the US more toward the left. We can see how this young generation of Democrats is winning big in their race, and that's going to have at least a self-reflection for the Dem establishment to rethink their concept with the new democratic movement.

What I see here is, like you said, it's basically a reverse of 2016 with the GOP lining up everyone and grouping the Tea Party and the neocons, and traditional republican and winning in 2017, and making a cult-like status and resulting in the election success with both Trump and the GOP for the next 12 years. The Dems are building a similar coalition with the DSA and moderates on the side; the problem is, would the American public had another stomach for another coalition like this? I don't know.
