I had seen this video and this is the sole reason, both ports needs to be connected. As otherwise, they will always remain in competition and no one will get stabilized. Both have severe baloch separatist problem and both will fuel each other adversaries. Only sensible option forward is that there should be investment of a single entity in both i.e China.

The linking part is not a new idea floated by me. Its what Pakistan and China both have advocated for. You can google and you will find it.

Gwadar will never be a success alone and same is true for Chahbahar. Frankly Chahbahar is far more developed then Gwadar with far more activity. You will realize yourself if you see infrastructure via google maps and compare both ports. So both Pakistan and Iran needs this connectivity.

As far as your comment about Pakistan exports to Iran... Yes Pakistan do not but imports from Iran. Those imports are very low cost comparison to any other country. Only if Iran's sanction problems are resolved, we can have a direct pipeline and cheapest oil & gas ever. Pakistan's largest chunk of budget goes to import of oil & gas. Our trade deficit will instantly be fixed. No shipping costs, no delivery delays, constant supply, safe in wars too as you know karachi port may not remain operational in intense war. Benefits are way too many. But seems not possible until Trump is in power.
