Islam and basically religion in general is not so simplistic as many thing.

In Islam there is Shahih Hadith saying a whore go to heaven because she give water to thirsthy dog.

What is heaven, what is hell ?

There are things that become the reason of why the description of heaven and hell are so phsycal, it is because most men and women only see things as physical, while very few saint in every religion understand the reality much deeper than that.

God needs to communicate to the level of understanding of most human before He could make them understand much deeper than that. In the beginning, every thing that we learn is such simple right like math started with one add by one means two then goes to Einstein relativity theory for those very few who learn math into its derivative like physics with deeper deep

If we learn Islam pretty deep than we know that heaven is a place that is close to God, and hell is a place that is separated with God.

Islam teach the way to be close to God through set of action that can change mindset, behavior, subscobsciousness which are very important to transform a men and women to higher state of soul. Not an easy way to do. Even many Muslim still dont understand Islam.

Pretty difficult to get there if we dont practice Islam, but God always have His own Wisdom and Fair Decision, so this is why even there is story of whore get to heaven due to her kindness.

About the torture, we never know as torture can be physical or non physical. Most human only see things and desire something physical despite many religion, including Islam, always say that Dunya ( physical world) is a low level thing to catch.

God is Kind and Fair, He doesnt like Dzalim action and can punish them with hard

But for those who dont do Dzalim things like hurthing other human, then God is very Fair

Many human dont understand that being separated with God is something very bad to happen, but most human dont aware of that like pigs like to eat even shits

We need to be lifted into transformative level so that we understand the reality that non physical is much higher in value than physical things. And that process is pretty impossible to get without real effort in Islam like doing what God ask and not doing what God banned (practice to make the soul go up)

So without Islam, that will be difficult to get into Heaven

It is the rational things behind it. It is not stupid superstition

It is already there since the beginning of human, and Islam is not the first religion brough by God to the earth. It is the last one.

In simple thing, heaven is a place that cannot be reached without soul transformation and God blessing.

It needs knowledge ( brough by God and His messegers) and practice (there is reason we are asked to do good thing, avoid bad thing, and dont follow our desire ( like dont do Zinah, Dont eat every things, Control our anger, etc).

I dont know in precise who will be there either, but only those with transformative soul and love his God (One and Only God) more than any thing that can be there.

It can be in any religion that reach the Quality, as Islam is just a knowledge and sets of rule to reach that Quality (Soul Level)
