Worth repeating this important bit from what Carney said. Sure, it's emotionally charged rhetoric, but he's not wrong. Very Eisenhower like."We knew that the story about the rules-based order was partially false... We knew that international law applied with varying rigour depending on the identity of the accused and the victim. This fiction was useful [because of the goods provided by American hegemony]... So we placed the sign in the window. We participated in the rituals. And we largely avoided calling out the gaps between rhetoric and reality. This bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition... You cannot live within the lie of mutual benefit through integration when integration becomes the source of your subordination."
hat's probably the whole purpose of Trump posting the image.
Get Canada to increase its defense spending so it has the ability to fight back.
That is some weird logic, why would Canada wants to increase their Defense budget? they have no enemies, I understand US pressure on European countries because of whole Russia/Ukraine war but why would Canada spend their defense budget ? they are not in any conflict nor under any threat, unless you count America.
I don't think so man, Trump is very unhinged and his rants about Greenland and Canada can not be taken lightly, and if it was just Trump one can argue with that logic but you have Rubio and JD also playing along. I don't think this whole Canada thing is just to pressure Canada into increasing their Defense budget. So it can be a useful member of NATO instead of being a background member. That’s what Trump wants.
Wise American pundits should try replacing "EU and Canada" with "Israel" in the above monologue and then preach to us all some more. The point is to get freeloaders such as EU and Canada to stop benefiting from US defense coverage paid for by US taxpayers while they get to provide social services to their population and then act like perpetual ingrates in return. What does USA get from defending them except abuse?
They have a choice to make now: pay for their own defense at cost of their social services, or toe the line. It is up to them.

^Just being funny!
If Canada still engages in this sort of thing, I'm 100% on their side against the Yankee hoodlum.
