President Trump is set to court major tensions on his upcoming trip to Saudi Arabia next week, where he's expected to declare that the US will officially recognise the Persian Gulf as either the "Arabian Gulf" or the "Gulf of Arabia."

This move comes as Arab countries have been lobbying for the geographical name change of the waterway that skims Iran's southern coast.

US is trying to stir up divide and conquer just as China is helping to mend relations between Iran and the GCC Arabs.

I thought this was changed like a decade ago

hmm guess not

It proves Trump is a moron. He got no better things to do than stupid name changes.
Trump is not the problem here.
This is not the first time that Saudi Arabia tries to provoke Iran like this.
People who think that this is new and Trump is responsible for this, should know that Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries like Iraq, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, etc. have been provoking Iran by calling the Persian Gulf "Arabian" for a couple of decades now.

The only difference is that Saudi Arabia seemed willing to mend our ties last month, but this shows that nothing has changed. Instead of confronting Iran directly like they did, and they failed, they want to pretend they are friends with Iran but act against Iran's interests behind the scene. Kind of like what Erdogan's Turkey has been doing lately.

Strangely these comments and likes coordinates with his claims, shady psyop campaign ongoing about the Persian Gulf

The tussle over the name of this body of water goes back a long way into history, and has been known by both names depending on which coast one belonged to, and nothing new.
I can attest you that before 1955, absolutely nobody was using "Arabian Gulf", the sources talking of "Arabian Gulf" are primitive and ridiculous. hundreds of historical medieval Arab maps attests the name "Persian Gulf"

Arabs today are in contradiction with their own history

On the historic side, "Arabian Gulf" has zero credibility

The Persian Gulf is known as such by more than three thousand historical maps, documents dating back to antiquity, from ancient Greece, Europe, to medieval Arab maps

Arabian Gulf have barely anything if nothing dating back before 1950

Meanwhile "Arabian Gulf" appears only on murky sources, most of them dating from after 1960 and the rise of panarab movement, i invite everyone to look at the "Arabian gulf" sources and make your own idea on this matter, anyone looking at their authors and date and putting them near the Persian Gulf ones can have a clear idea of what is credible and what is primitive inventions

Well, it has been known by many names, including the Turks calling it the Gulf of Basra, for example, and attempts have been made on both sides to reconcile on the issue, with no success, and it remains a contentious issue, as I said, depending on what coast one belongs to.

The quality of leadership has dropped so low that they prefer to tussle over naming bodies of water.

That is probably a fair comment.

Just consider how easy it is to provoke Muslims into fighting each other over non-issues like this, and then look at the condition of the Muslim countries in general, and much becomes clear.

There is a long journey to travel from this sorry starting point to get to the fantasy world many here dream of, is all that I can say.
