Instead of accepting responsibility for building an illegal-labor-dependent system, USPS executives did the unthinkable. Senior Vice President Pete Routsolias went on an emergency call and admitted they "didn't understand the magnitude" of their own reliance—then ordered an immediate return to using the banned drivers. Translation: because USPS is one of the worst offenders in flooding its network with fraudulent CDLs, it believes it deserves special treatment that no one else gets.

That is outrageous. Being the most addicted to illegal labor does not grant special treatment under federal safety rules; it is an indictment of years of reckless outsourcing decisions and willful blindness that displaced American workers and compromised highway safety. We can expect to see this same type of outcry from a few more shippers who have engineered and profited by going all in on this capacity. The damage you have done to American Carriers and American Truck drivers does not get a FREE PASS.

America's chain of custody for our mail will not be held hostage by an agency that chose lawbreakers over lawful citizens. Fix the mess you made, USPS—now—not in two years.
 
Davey, a LOT of the mail gets moved via 3rd party carriers. It's the carrier that is hiring the drivers. Not the USPS.

If you see a USPS tractor-trailer, it is likely a local-local or similar route.

There were a LOT of changes introduced last year on how mail gets injected into the Postal System. That was the final project I was driving for DHL prior to retirement.

The USPS are the ones involved with minority contracting, giving out contracts based on diversity.

I, too have a degree in Accounting from a good Business School.

For government accounting, my instructor was Roger Short, longtime City of Detroit budget director. Ran unsuccessfully for mayor a few times.

Mr. Short told us to read the text, exams will be based on the text.

For the entire semester, Mr. Short gave lectures based on actual real world government accounting.

Worked three years as a government analyst for the City of Detroit Department of Human Rights, Certification and contract compliance.

Our MBE, WBE certification program was the first in the country.

Whenever Jesse Jackson stopped in, I was told to go home, will get paid for the remainder of the day.

Meeting in the conference room one day early in the program, we were presented with a slide show. After the presentation was over, we in the "department of human wrongs" were asked if there was any questions.

Put up my hand and asked who's "other" in all the charts and tables?

Everyone turned their heads at me, because it was obvious, white males.

That was twenty five years ago, back when diversity initiatives really took off. Had to do with a US Supreme Court decision in 2000/2001.

Quit in 2004. Been warning others since then what will result because of these initiatives, heavily influenced by the likes of Jesse Jackson. The flood of third world immigration (anyone who is not White, more specifically, one of 128 recognized socially disadvantaged ethic groups) was one of the warnings I gave some twenty years ago.

The fallout has reverberated sharply within Minnesota’s Somali community of roughly 80,000 residents. Many say the scandals have cast suspicion on innocent families and entrepreneurs. Rep. Ilhan Omar, whose district includes Minneapolis, urged Minnesotans not to generalize wrongdoing. “We do not blame the lawlessness of an individual on a whole community,” she said.

Except - as Somali-American professor Ahmed Samatar of Macalester College argues, the scandal demands honest reflection.

Dr. Samatar said that Somali refugees who came to the United States after their country’s civil war were raised in a culture in which stealing from the country’s dysfunctional and corrupt government was widespread.

Minnesota, he said, proved susceptible to rampant fraud because it is “so tolerant, so open and so geared toward keeping an eye on the weak.” -NYT

Indentured Servants were not criminals. They were people who agreed to work in exchange for somebody fronting them the money for the expensive trans-Atlantic ship trip. The cost back then was more than what most people made in a year.

That means 10% were criminals.

I was the proof reader years ago for this book.

Going on memory, many of the White indentured servants had no say in the matter. The plantations in early colonial America was always short on labor. The British Crown would order the poor in England rounded up and shipped to America.

These Whites would be worked to death. Most were dead after three years, never making it to the day they will be free.

Smarter ones ran off into the wilderness, joining the nearest Native American tribe, near the Appalachian Mountains. That's why many Cherokees look White today.

The slave owners then hired Jewish ship owners to import Africans for their plantations, in their view, a hardier race for slavery.
