Quite rough experience by this citizen of US, strange to hear this
Normally this did not happened before

I have not followed the internal US stories closely by all the ones I read seem very intense

Internally Think such action will certainly raise alarm bells for local citizens of USA I am sure they must have started to notice these news on their local channels

I feel some US-Spanish (Speaking) level tension happening

There is a big population of Hispanic voters in USA

However as I am no expert on USA's internal affairs it will have to be observed how things will flow in next 3-4 years

For a police officer it is shocking he doesn't know the law at all.

As a US citizen he has the right to refuse to answer. Unless they have some proof of something illegal he can't be denied entry.

Look for yourself:

If I am selected for a longer interview when I am coming into the United States, what can I do?

Your legal status in the country may inform what you decide to do if you are selected for longer questioning when entering the United States. U.S. citizens have the right to enter the United States, so if you are a U.S. citizen and the officers’ questions become intrusive, you can decline to answer those questions, but you should be aware that doing so may result in delay and/or further inspection. The same is true for lawful permanent residents: you generally cannot be denied entry to the United States, but declining to answer questions may result in delay or further inspection. Refusal by non-citizen visa holders and visitors to answer questions may result in denial of entry.

If the officers’ questions become intrusive or improper, you should complain and ask to speak to a supervisor. (This goes for citizens, lawful permanent residents, or non-citizen visa holders and visitors.) Although CBP takes the position that you are not entitled to an attorney during primary and secondary inspection, we encourage you to have the telephone number of an attorney or legal services organization with you and ask to contact them if you feel your rights are being violated or if you have been detained for an unusually long period. For anyone attempting to enter the United States, if a customs officer or border agent informs you that you are under arrest, or if it becomes clear that he or she suspects you have committed a crime, you should ask to speak to a lawyer before answering any further questions — and if you wish to exercise your right to remain silent, you should say so out loud.

=============================

If that police officer knew the law he could just say

I am a U.S. citizen. I have done nothing illegal. I am choosing not to answer any further questions because I am concerned that my words could be misinterpreted or used unfairly against me. I would like to speak to a supervisor if there is an issue. Otherwise, I would like to proceed on my way.

Opening your mouth just gives them ammo to use against you.
As a police officer he should know this FULL WELL. Why the hell is he answering questions for 1.5 hours. All he can achieve by opening his mouth is losing.

LOL, reality is different from the movies, especially if you are a Muslim or other targeted minority.

Immigration officials can make your life hell in a million ways, just by delaying you for no reason, as they did to this guy.

Let them delay...but don't open your mouth if you are a citizen.

You open your mouth and the next thing you'll find yourself in court in a he-said-she-said situation where the cbp officer has the upper hand.

I agree but, like they did to this guy, when the immigration officer says "let's take a walk" and makes you sit there for 90 minutes for no reason, there's not much you can do. Just keep quiet and sit there. If you make a scene, you are dead meat.

Heck, this is true even at the DMV. There are always some percentage of people who go on ego trips when they get some power.

A bit of collateral damage is to be expected of an operation this size. They have 30+ milliond illegal aliens there.

@Davey Crockett @VCheng @Yommie

a peso for your thoughts, zentlemen ?

Much of the recent adverse publicity is media driven. There has always been a certain percentage of secondary questioning and denial of admission cases at ports of entry, and what the percentage increase has been is yet to be tabulated since the present adminsitration took over. It will take some time to become clear.

In any case, being caught up in a legal violation of the terms of entry or visa should not lead to an automatic expectation of being let go without consequence, wouldn't you agree?

It's quite a bold statement that 30 Million Illegals reside in USA
Such number seems astronomical

a) Border of USA is mostly closed
b) Border heavily monitored, Video , Camera , Security guard patrol
c) Wall structures

I think the big things this time around are
  • Targeting Spanish Language as on of USA's official language
  • Specifically focused on Spanish or Colored people

I am just viewing this issue a bit from the Hispanic side

Typically alot of Businesses offered customers interaction in Spanish
together with English , so changing status of Language is quite a broad impacting rule.

Not forgetting Spanish also make up large segment of army ground level workers

There is nothing wrong with a country recognizing more than one language. However, a country should have an official language. Kenya for example has two official languages; English and Swahili. Swahili is also the national language.

Ironically, the official languages of Pakistan is English and Urdu.

In the case of the United States, President Trump is insisting there only be one official language. That would be no different than France where French is the official language as well as mandated by the French Constitution. In Germany, it is Hochdeutsch.

Any "tension" in the US is being created solely for political benefit.

💯

do the crime, do the time
pay the fine, get back in line

What I have a hard time wrapping my head around is the lefties insisting that nothing be done and more be allowed in, because compassion or something, that's nuts.

This kinda thing in general is not limited to the United States, or even the west.. far left crazies, this isn't even Liberalism at this stage.

Maybe Trump just was the bitter pill the US needed to get well again.

Too much empathy is even classified as some kind of mental disorder iinw, the roots of which may just be latent/dormant narcissism. Savior complex waali baat, no ?
