LOL. It is not pointless at all. Maybe to you because it shatters your viewpoint of China being a real contender to the US globally (not the case) and with such an attitude that China is displaying and has historically such a change of guard will never occur. Nor can it in the first place when your own vicinity is not in your control. So yes, the entire discussion is pointless from my part indeed.
I should just have written the ground reality namely that Pro-China aligned states and regimes just like Venezuela, previously Iran, and to an extend Russia, cannot really expect any support from China when shit hits the fan or the heat increases.
Does anyone here, and we are talking about just 60 years ago (which is an entirety given the technological progress since then), imagine the USSR adopting such passivity and inaction in regard to Cuba or other allies during the Cold War? I don't. Maybe that is why China has never lead any military pact such as the Warsaw Pact nor working towards that today while we speak.
Personally, I am to be honest, I don't think that China even has such aspirations. The focus is on internal development and regaining Taiwan. US-China are still the largest trade partners, nothing like the Cold War. Most Chinese elites and most Chinese people in power, their families, are mostly Western educated and have close ties to the same West. Not difficult to encounter them in Southern France during the summer in London or elsewhere. Not any different from Arab elites, in many ways worse in their worship of the West.
