The modern Roman Empire is far better organized and positioned to influence the world than in the past. They literally shape our modern way of life. Much of what we use is developed by them or based on their teachings. The companies we work in are developed by them or modeled accordingly. The economic system(s) in place are based on their teachings. They are the architects. Others tend to follow and some try to compete with varying levels of expansion (and losses).
