Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast Auto has accelerated its expansion in India with 24 operational dealerships across major cities, marking a major milestone in its mission to deliver electric mobility experience to Indian consumers.

The company is on track to achieve its target of 35 dealerships nationwide by the end of 2025, strengthening its presence in India.

The newly launched showrooms are spread across cities including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Surat, Pune, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Nagpur, Agra, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Kochi, Bhubaneswar, Baroda, and Rajkot, adhere to VinFast’s global retail standards. As per the company, each outlet combines contemporary design with immersive display areas, offering customers a seamless and transparent brand experience.

Speaking about the milestone, Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast India, stated that the strong interest in sustainable mobility in India was a key motivation for the company to continue setting higher standards. He noted that the rapid establishment of brand experience showrooms demonstrated VinFast’s long-term commitment to the Indian market. He added that the company did not only aim to sell electric vehicles but also sought to provide an inspiring, customer-focused journey grounded in sustainability and innovation.

In addition to expanding its retail network, VinFast is building a comprehensive EV ecosystem in India that integrates sales, charging infrastructure, and after-sales services. The company has forged strategic partnerships with RoadGrid, myTVS, Castrol India, and Global Assure to ensure robust nationwide support for charging, maintenance, and roadside assistance.

At the heart of VinFast’s India strategy is its manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Spanning 400 acres, the plant is designed to assemble the VF 6 and VF 7 in its first phase with an initial capacity of 50,000 vehicles per year, scalable to 1,50,000 units. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to generate 3,000–3,500 direct jobs and several thousand more indirectly through the supply chain, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s position as a leading EV manufacturing hub in South Asia.

With production and retail expansion moving in tandem, VinFast is steadily strengthening its foundation in India’s EV market. The company’s goal of operationalising all 35 dealerships by this December underscores its determination to deliver accessible, reliable, and electric mobility solutions for Indian consumers, while contributing to the country’s broader clean mobility goals./.

Many Indians don't agree, they think India's only rivals are US and China in every aspect.

I think they enjoy asean free trade agreement, first chinese assemble their product in these country so that they can avoide tarrif/custom etc. Then these assembled product are supplied to india.
I think Asean trade agreement will be revised in future because of large trade deficit .

I think it should be the Mekong Four or ASEAN as a whole as India's competitor. Vietnam is doing much better than India, but's still too far in terms of national strength.

Trade with India only accounts for 5% of ASEAN's foreign trade. You are overestimating India's influence. Although India has population of 1.4 billion, your market is actually small.

We will eventually catch up with India in goods exports. I think not a problem. India’s strength lies in services. India has english population. They have huge talent pool.

First of two new vessels for ISSG – freight ferry MENAWETHAN launched in Vietnam

FERRYThe Isles of Scilly Steamship Group (ISSG) marked a major milestone in its GBP 42 million fleet renewal programme on 31 October with the launch of its new freight ferry MENAWETHAN at Piriou’s shipyard in Vietnam.

The 45 m, 1,000 gt vessel—named after one of the uninhabited Isles of Scilly—will replace the 1981-built GRY MARITHA and is the first freight ship designed specifically for the year-round Scilly service. With a 207-tonne cargo capacity (50 t more than its predecessor) and 20% more space for chilled and frozen goods, MENAWETHAN will also include a 12-passenger lounge.

Features include a MacGregor side door and lift, a 60-tonne/12-tonne heavy-lift deck crane, and twin V12 ABC engines giving a service speed of 10 knots. The vessel is now undergoing three months of fitting out and trials, with UK delivery scheduled for May 2026 and entry into service that summer.

ISSG’s renewal plan also includes the 600-passenger SCILLONIAN IV (due March 2027) and new inter-island catamaran LYONESSE LADY II, following the 2023 entry into service of landing craft GUGH.

Vietnam’s stock market reaches a new record. Daily trading volumes surpass $3 billion. Although market caps are still relatively small compared to other in ASEAN.

aha that´s a great honour.
SK president LJM calls Vietnam as "great country". he says Vietnam suffered a lot under the hands of great powers but the Vietnamese beat them all. For the first time ever Lee discreetly recognised South Korea´s ugly involvement in the Vietnam war. Previously before he became president he said the Koreans own the Vietnamese a "sorry".
South Korean troops were the most brutal during the war in Viet Nam.

You mean Takaichi? Maybe she is a boot licker, maybe not. (Ups I should have not said that). She likely continues Japan hawkish stance towards China. Not sure what policy she will do towards Vietnam.

Japan is too weak to contain China.

China can play hardball to overpower Trump, and she will be foolish for not realizing China's true strength.

Her soul is ugly as her looks, she denies any crimes or wrong doings of Japan in WW II.
