Mercedes-Benz launches first PHEV in Vietnam, priced at over $174,000

The first imported units have already arrived at a local port.

The GLE 400 e 4MATIC is equipped with the brand’s latest-generation hybrid powertrain, delivering a combined output of 381 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque.

The model is powered by a 2.0L M254 petrol engine, paired with an electric motor and a 25.28 kWh battery pack.

This is the first time the German automotive brand has offered a PHEV in Vietnam.

Plug-in hybrids combine a combustion engine with an electric motor but can be externally charged like a fully electric vehicle.


According to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) standard, the GLE 400 e can travel 95-114 kilometers on pure electric power, making it well-suited for urban commuting.

With an 11 kW AC charger, the battery can be replenished in about 2.75 hours.

Meanwhile, the standard 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system ensures stable performance across varied terrain.

A representative of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam said the launch signals the beginning of the company’s PHEV line-up expansion, aimed at offering more efficient mobility solutions to Vietnamese customers.

Vietnam’s plug-in hybrid segment remains relatively small, but is emerging as a new hotspot in the premium car market.
