Vote for ‘constitutional package’

was there a clause that extands mouaziz idaras Mafia boss retirement age and since everyone was focused on cute boy Qazi everyone missed that clause or intentionally ignored it?
No need. Unlike a CJP, There is no limit in the constitution on how many extensions a Mafia boss can get.

The ruling coalition failed to convince Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) to support its attempts to bring constitutional amendments about the superior judiciary, with the secrecy surrounding the proposed legislation being the bone of contention.

The PML-N and PPP leaders, separately, were supposed to meet the JUI-F chief at his residence on Monday to court the veteran politician from Dera Ismail Khan for support in the passage of the constitutional package.

But in an unusual snub, the JUI-F chief did not meet the PML-N delegation which was supposed to arrive after noon prayers. Instead of waiting for the delegation, the JUI-F central executive committee commenced its meeting at 3pm.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman “completely rejected” the government’s proposed constitutional reforms on Wednesday, Aaj News reported.

The head of JUI-F attended a luncheon meeting at PTI leader Asad Qaiser’s home to discuss the constitutional amendments being proposed by the government and its allied parties.

The National Assembly was prorogued on Monday without taking up the much-hyped “constitutional package” due to the failure of the ruling alliance to woo the opposition’s support for passage of the proposed constitutional amendment.

All the efforts by the government to persuade the opposition, particularly JUI-F, remained unsuccessful in getting the required numerical strength for passage of the constitutional amendment.

The planned amendment is expected to change the procedure of appointment of judges to the superior judiciary and merge the parliamentary committee on the judiciary with the Judicial Commission.

After Maulana Fazlur Rehman ‘completely rejected’ the proposed constitutional package chalked up by the PML-N, the coalition government without losing hope has stepped up consultations with other political parties to evolve a consensus on the controversial amendments to the Constitution.

In a media talk following a meeting between the JUI-F chief and the PTI leaders at the residence of former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser on Wednesday, the JUI-F leader said, “We have completely rejected the proposed package as the government is itself saying that there’s no draft of the constitutional package.”

The draft bill itself was drafted by the establishment and the PDM folks were assigned to get support to barge the bill through in the parliament.

Looks like the move failed.

Another failed operation in the long list of failures.
