Unsung hero of Pakistan-Brigadier Sultan Amir Tarar aka Col ImamBrig Sultan was a legendary figure in Pakistan’s military & intelligence history. A highly decorated officer and key ISI operative, he significantly influenced South Asian geopolitics, particularly in Afghanistan.

Before joining the ISI, he served in the Special Services Group (SSG) and was trained in guerrilla warfare, intelligence, and covert missions. During the Soviet-Afghan War (1979–1989), he played a key role in training and arming the Mujahideen.
Having received training at Fort Bragg, USA, under the CIA, he facilitated coordination between the ISI, CIA, & various Mujahideen groups. He personally mentored figures such as Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Ahmed Shah Massoud, & Mullah Omar, the eventual founder of the Taliban.
His dedicated involvement earned him great respect among Afghan fighters. Despite his former associations, he was abducted by the TTP in 2010 during a mission in Afg. After several months of captivity, he was executed in January 2011.
