Advanced Electronics and Communications Systems (ACES) and Havelsan have officially signed a memorandum of understanding, signaling the start of a strategic partnership to develop initiatives in the fields of defense and information and communications technology (ICT).

It has been an open secret for a very long time that KSA has been heavily funding the Turkish public and private defense companies (along with other wealthy GCC states - mostly Qatar and KSA) but the increase in cooperation across all fields is important for both parties and a very good thing to see.

Models of the American F-35 aircraft and the Turkish KAAN with the flag of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Kaan is likely not going to be a fully mature model until the late 2030's or early 2040's but KSA involvement and investment is part of the ongoing and rapid local transfer of technology and overall spectacular local defense growth that will serve KSA to embark on similar projects in the future. I believe the logic is the same with the ongoing talks with South Korea for the KF-21 project and the GCAP project. This is the right approach. Similarly with the localization of parts of the F-35. We are basically following the model of every other country that made significant leaps. My impression and that of many experts in this field, local as well as foreign, is that we are doing it at a faster speed thanks to our wealth, political connections and top-down government form and MbS' direct involvement and this being one of the priorities. As well as cooperation with partners in the region, West, East (China, South Korea, Japan etc.) and others. As well as the governmental support and private sector support. It is 1 billion times more organic than whatever the Abu Dhabi regime has been doing with Edge as well.

From the public data available we have around 500 STEM students (graduates) moving into the Saudi Arabian public and private defense sectors and entire academies (state) being constructed for the sole purpose of enhancing local capabilities. You will reap the fruits from all such brilliant minds not within a few years but for the next many decades. In particularly as the focus is only increasing on STEM within the public curriculum and public and private universities. So this will only continue and increase by each month.

Add the gigantic AI steps that KSA is taking and positioning itself as one of the main AI hubs globally, and you can imagine the rest.

To continue to elaborate on my post 75 with sheer data and accomplishment so far within a time span of around 8 years coming from basically nowhere due to deliberate self-sabotage due to internal politics and hijacking from certain, back then, powerful circles:

"Dreaming of entering the military industries field?
Well, listen up, you might not know this, but the Saudi National Academy for Military Industries was actually established.

The Academy was announced in 2022, and today it's become a reality on the ground, with its location in Riyadh spanning over 80,000 square meters, accommodating around 2,000 male and female students every year.

And its current specializations are distributed across four key tracks:

• Electronics Technology in Defense
• Mechanical Technology in Defense
• Electrical Technology in Defense
• Chemical Technology in Defense

And the great thing is that the General Authority for Military Industries GAMI has focused on developing the capabilities of our young men and women “civilians in the technical and scientific fields related to military industries.

And this thing actually raises their awareness and skills in a field that, unfortunately, many people were ignorant of before 2016, but today the situation is starting to change, because the goal is to enhance true awareness of the importance of military industries, so that the new generation knows exactly what it means to manufacture defense systems, and how electronics and mechanics and electricity and chemistry work within this sensitive sector.

And more important than awareness?
Enhancing localization.

Having an academy like this creates a generation that's understanding, qualified, and trained in a scientific way, and this is exactly what supports the state's direction in localizing military industries by 50% and more, because without trained and aware local cadres, there won't be a real industry, nor technology transfer, nor internal development.

And this is a big step because it doesn't just raise the level of individuals

— it raises the level of the entire sector and supports the Kingdom's independence in manufacturing, reduces our reliance on the outside, and opens up massive opportunities for the coming generation.

A direct dig at mainly the Abu Dhabi regime and their model:

"There are countries that establish military companies within their territories, then recruit foreign engineers and experts from multiple countries to manufacture their products, and afterward describe these products as “national industry”.
It is true that manufacturing within the country contributes to supportingits economy, but the reality is entirely different in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Here, when we say “national industry”, we mean it literally:
Industry by the hands of the sons of the homeland, with their expertise, and with their capabilities that are being developed and empowered to become an actual part of the national defense system
"

While KSA is in the early stages of the ongoing transformation with much yet to achieve, looking at what the future is likely in store for us in this regard, the speed and achievements so far within such a short time period and considering where we started, is nevertheless incredibly impressive and all the numbers confirm this and increasingly the achievements of the private and public sector as well in the sphere of defense industry. This is even visible by this ongoing defense exhibition and what was shown just 3 years ago.

The Interior Ministry's interest in adopting modern technologies. An electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft eVTOL dedicated for use by civil defense. It starts at a maximum speed of 130 km/h with a range of up to 50 km. This aircraft is unmanned "drone," and the operator only specifies the fire location. The F-35A fighter model cockpit with the Royal Saudi Air Force logo. This model's cockpit matches the actual F-35A fighter cockpit by 95%. The technologies in this cockpit are considered among the most advanced compared to other competitors, and it was designed in a way that reduces the workload on the pilot. The main element in the cockpit is the 20x8-inch panoramic display screen, through which all aircraft systems and weapon systems can be controlled. It can also be noted that there is no HUD screen, which has been dispensed with and replaced by a display screen integrated into the pilot's helmet.
