We 'can never win' a war: Taiwan's former president Ma on the best way to deal with China | DW News

They can win a psychological war with a suicide bomber mentality. They are not far away from Mainland China and are armed to the teeth including missiles.

But that's unlikely, China can invade Taiwan and easily take over the country, it will most probably be in a recession for a few years after any invasion. But it will be good for others. So, me personally is in total support for the invasion of Taiwan by China. Irredentism seems to be taking out countries and economies one by one.
How will China go into recession? Did USA go into recession after it invaded Iraq?

Apples and oranges comparison. The US didn't go to Iraq alone it was a coalition of Europeans, Australian, Newzies.

The US supplied weapons and used Iraqi oil to fund the war in Iraq. How does it compare to China - Taiwan?

USA used Iraqi oil to fund Iraq? USA used Iraqi oil to reclaim its expenses after conquering Iraq. USA did not merely supply weapons but actually invaded Iraq using its army. China has no dearth of weapons either. So, I don't see why you see a problem for China alone.

The main reason China will go into recession will be stoppage of semiconductor chips from Taiwan. Currently Taiwan is supplying chipsets to Chinese companies for its civilian products. Until China develops its own technology, it will have to rely on this supply

Yeah, that's exactly like what I said, the US used Iraqi oil to fund war on Iraq. Do you think the US didn't think of a plan to fund war and happens to find oil?

The main reason will be European and American sanctions on China. The Europe so far has resisted on major sanctions on China even the US has, but an invasion of Taiwan would be a tipping point. The Chinese knows it, that's why they've been trying to coerce Taiwan.

USA invaded Iraq for petrodollars as Iraq was trying to sell oil in non-dollars. So, USA indeed had a plan. But regarding war with Taiwan, unlike Iraq, once China takes out the government of Taiwan, it will not be a long occupation as Taiwanese are ethnic Chinese and will simply merge into a greater China.

As for European & American sanctions, China supplies most of the manufactured goods to these countries. If anything, they will become poor and lose out. China's production power is more than EU+USA combined. It will simply be a repeat of Iron curtain of cold war but with China having upper hand.

Foreign media can not see it or they pretend not to see it. Taiwanese are like Beijingers or Shanghaiese...., they are no difference between us.

Percentage of ethnic Han Chinese population
Taiwan : 98%
Hong kong : 92%
Mainland China : 91.59%
Singapore : 74.3%

They overwhelmingly voted for pro democracy candidates. Looks like they value their independence and democracy. Ethnicity is not a factor there.

Chinese economy is dependent on the west too. Which is why I said it's good for the rest of Asia is Chinese economy is brought down a bit and why I support their invasion lel

The whole sentiment will change overnight if a war really broke out, Taiwanese are also Chinese, there's no inherent reason for them to fight hard. ROC's fall to PRC was largely due to ROC's high ranking military commanders switching camps to the communists' side in the late 1940's.

Do you know that Taiwanese were suppressed by USA in using heavy weapons supplied to its agents in KMT till 1980s? Currently Taiwan is having rigged media, rigged political systems, controlled judiciary which won't allow pro Chinese to win elections.

However, China's economy depends on the western countries to a lesser extent than western countries' economy depending on China. China only needs semiconductor from the west. Everything else is made by itself or procured from Russia, Asia (Oil, gas, minerals)

There are no rigging. The public in Taiwan is not in favoring CCP. You can spin it in anyway. No amount of propaganda videos of Taiwanese visiting Shanghai gonna change that.

Sanctions not only have a primary effect, but a secondary one too. For example, countries you trade with will also have to comply with the sanctions.

Like I said before. I totally support a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. I don't need to hear the stories from 40's or 70s. Enough talking just do it.

Where do you get that idea from? Chinese will never ever invade Taiwan. This ain't the 1600s.

Really? Then why were Taiwanese & SKoreans regularly suppressed with heavy machine gun firing and mass arrests till 1980s by the USA puppet govt of Taiwan & SKorea? If people were so happy with their ruling, they would not have rebelled. Taiwan government was USA imposed till 2005 and no elections were held for the national assembly till 2004. The elections were held only for last 19-20 years only and that too after careful social engineering to eliminate parties that were not aligned with USA interests. For example, People First Party was prevented from winning when elections were set to be conducted in 2000 by postponing the elections by 4 years to eliminate the party's support.
