can be had but, its just underground bootleggers and few other places for food (beef would still be a strong no in Gujarat) .. also, its a coastal state, they do have fisheries, its not 100% strict veggie

Ya, common across much of Kerala, Goa, the north east etc .. I see these in my supermarket everyday, nobody cares.
Gujarat, however, I've heard its pretty bad.. no beer, no tikka and kebab.. Hindu taliban style
