he could have shown a middle finger. It would have been just a bad taste. Slitting a throat is a savage sign and regarded as a death threat. People get jailed over it.

A man who made a cut-throat gesture to a teenage girl witness in court was jailed for four months yesterday.

yeah.. he got covered for that.. I know. But bad for PR. Recently, an Israeli supporter was also caught on camera doing that. She was not arrested, but it was bad for PR.

I read your sentiments, but there are a couple of things:

1. He is a solider, he is a trained killer, they are not fluffy cuddly care bears, I have seen footage of football fans act worse.
2. The Israeli supporter was a civilian not a Diplomatic attaché
3. Right now Pakistan is facing potentially the greatest threat to its agriculture, water security, energy generation and is accused of a crime without evidence.
4. Having failed in their curated campaign to malign Pakistan since the west are too busy in Europe and US is going solo they have now resorted to this topi drama.

"Threats to kill" the law that you are referring to - has to have the "there and then test" - as in the person witnessing the act has to have a strongly held belief that he would there and then be subject to unlawful force.
