The world is living through India’s demographic moment. Where without a growing domestic economy for the average Indian, with employment and opportunities at home, the world is bearing the burden of the aspirations of a well educated middle class. Unfortunately, for them, doors will be closed, as most countries are not where they were 1-2 generations ago, able to absorb excess moderately skilled labor. Heck I even gulf countries, after this war, will have limited funds to hire even well educated Indians over a certain point.
This is before the anticipated economic correction, forecast sometime “soon”, when the AI bubble bursts, and companies will be cutting back an order of magnitude greater.
At that point, the public outcry for more draconian measures to restrict immigration will abound, including from otherwise young and liberal people, who would seem the most open to welcoming new arrivals.
The competition in the world for jobs is going in the direction of the competition for jobs in India. Economic nativism is losing its taboo status.
