Why extremely sparsely populated Tibet, so called the 3rd pole due to its harsh environment can produce Olympic gold medalists?

China invests billions in sports facilities for rural schools in Tibet to make sure that local children's athletic potentials wouldn't be wasted just because they were born in the remotest and environmentally harshest region in the world.
