We NEVER were "south asian" in the truest sense of the term. "south asia" is a british colonial construct that was used to push different races of brown people together into 1 disparate group in order to rule over them.

A Pakistani is not racially or genetically Middle Eastern nor are we south asian either. We have our own unique race, culture and heritage that is indigenous to the land and region tha makes up Pakistan.

From what i see the Balochis and Pashtuns are more closer to the Iranic people, the Pakistani Punjabis are same as Indian Punjabis, also North India/Delhi is mixture of many ethnicities for centuries including Punjabis, Sindhis have similar history, the people closer to the border with India look and act like Indians so they are definitely close relatives, from experience the Lahori people I find them to be Indians but as you move away from the border the people are very different. The South and East Indians are different people, different languages, cultures but North ones have similarities, plus over the centuries people moved from Pakistan to current India so alot of mixing, especially border regions.

Yeah no idea what's with the Indian cope of forcefully putting us with themselves. Most of the Pakistan i.e KPK, Balochistan, GB has nothing to do with them, culturally, linguistically and ethnically. Same with Punjabis and Sindhis who just share it with limited population concentrated in North West India.

North India is a massive and diverse place including UP and Bihar.

Punjabis cluster with East Punjabis, Haryana, Jammu and Pahari folks. I dont with the rest of them they share much.

All of Indonesians were hindus, and they all accepted Islam through traders & Sufis. There was not a single military conquest of Indonesia.

We all Pakistanis were hindus at one point in time 100s of years ago were Hindus. Its no shame in it. Even Sahaba were converts. Nobody was a muslim except the Prophet. I know names of my forefathers upto 5 generations back, they all were muslims but I know for a fact that hundreds of years ago, any one of them would have converted. Otherwise its impossible to have so million muslims in Pakistan (more in india and bangaldesh today).

Here in Canada during census time and At my workplace I make it a point to always select "Other" and then Pakistani. (if and when they poll)

Only South and NE are distinct genetically and culturally. North, Central and Western India is interlinked in culture. Maharastra(West) genetically is a mix i'd say. Especially the Deccani areas are more closer to the South.

The language differs in most areas but culturally there's a link.

Himachal, Uttrakhand, Ladakh and Kashmir are distinct too but in the grand scheme of things they are small provinces.

Punjabi
Sindhi
Baloch
Pashtuns

We have been here for thousands upon thousands of years

Out people have next to no connection to most Indians or people of South Asia

I mean what connection do we have with Tamils or Maharastrans or Biharis it any of these other idol worshippers
