Increasingly wealthy Chinese population more and more choose bullet trains instead of planes for a reason, fast, comfortable, cheap and better connectivity with other public transport systems.

Summer bullet train ride in Xinjiang, passengers get confused, the outside temperature shows 41 degrees celsius but they can still see snow capped mountains...

If it's Urumqi-Yining.
For 600km air distance 140$ seems pretty expensive. Your trains are not cheap but flight fare is expensive.
@onlinpunit
Urumqi-Yining, Second Class ¥128 ( $17)

$17 for 600 kilometers not cheap? By Chinese standard that's pretty cheap, one average meal in an average street restaurant for 1 to 2 can cost the same.

Read again. I'm talking about your screenshot of air fare 900-1100 yuan.

Normally it will be around 40$ in India. Matching the most of train categories except of second class.
