Yemeni president:

Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi
@PresidentRashad
:-I congratulate the people of #Hadramout and Al-Mahrah governorates, the leadership of the local authorities, and the heroes of the Nation Shield Forces on the success of the operation to take over military camps in the two governorates.
The operation was completed swiftly and efficiently, exceeding expectations, and contributing to the consolidation of security and stability and the preservation of social peace.

-I commend the responsible and courageous role of the local authority leaderships in Hadramout and Al-Mahrah, and their wisdom in managing this phase and prioritizing the public interest.

-This success reflects the alignment of local communities with the state and its institutions, and lays the foundation for a new phase of coexistence, the resumption of services, and the improvement of citizens’ living conditions.

-I highly appreciate the efforts of the Joint Forces of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by Saudi Arabia, which played a decisive role in securing the handover of the camps, de-escalating tensions, protecting civilians, and ensuring the success of the operation in accordance with laws and international norms.

-I call on Yemeni political and social forces to avoid peripheral conflicts and focus on state-building, and moving forward with implementing the priorities of the transitional phase in line with nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed references, including restructuring the armed forces under the Ministries of Defense and Interior and extending state authority and the rule of law nationwide.

-The future belongs to the state and institutional work. What has been achieved today is proof that when Yemenis unite around the state and the law, they are capable of achieving victory and building the secure and prosperous tomorrow they all deserve.#Yemen

Houthi's and Saudis have learnt to coexist. Houthi's can't be dependent on Iran on anymore. They aren't they just want their place in the north of Yemen which has been historically their home.

The Yemeni's in the south were getting ready to negotiate (however long it may take) with Houthi's regarding future of Yemen.

UAE then tried to suddenly shake up Yemen.

Saudi response was firm. Keep state of peace in Yemen. Yemen won't revert to tribalist war especially at a sensitive time where Somalia is being divided up and Israel is seeking greater role in immediate vicinity of Arabian Peninsula.
Houthis, albeit a cult in many ways, and thoroughly incompetent running their North Yemeni enclave, most locals don't want their rule, as they (the tribe) and allied tribes have monopolized power and created a cult-like ideology around the Al-Houthi clan and in general turned North Yemen into a failed entity in terms of government services, poverty, lack of development etc.

It is a rogue group of dubious origins that has been waging war against the Yemeni state since the 1990's. They are not a good party no matter their token attacks on Israel which they are deliberately doing in order to create support abroad. I and most Arabs have no problem with that (we will support Zionists attacking other Zionists for that matter - does not mean support for Zionists as a whole) but that does not magically remove everything else from the equation.

Simply put Yemenis and Yemen as a whole deserve better. This whole mess in the past 10 years (civil war) could have easily been avoided. Houthis are not the sole problem but the main problem as they were the ones that rebelled and attacked their own countrymen and state back in 2014. This had occurred earlier (1990's insurgency) as well.

Nor do they represent the intellectual class of Zaydis in North Yemen, academics or historical dominant clans and tribes nor the former North Yemeni royal family (Zaydis too) that live in KSA today.

They have no relationship to this North Yemeni/Arabian/Arab dynasty that ruled much of North Yemen for almost 1000 years.

Again, I am talking about the corrupt Houthi leadership and their henchmen, not the ordinary foot soldier who does not know any better and who is brainwashed and in many cases a child or outright illiterate.

Any way, KSA is not going to attack North Yemen or invade it, as it is too difficult geographically speaking, too populated and there is nothing to gain there of resources, human capital (for now), strategic area or otherwise. It is up to the locals to eventually rise up (KSA can give them support for that) or for the Houthis to reform.

Houthis are part of the problem, they are just another version of STC, the Zaydi version. Both are bad and both have divided Yemen and weakened it.

It all boils down to bad Yemeni leadership and people/communities feeling neglected. This is seen elsewhere in the Arab and Muslim world and should be solved.

UAE (Abu Dhabi Emirate more precisely) is doing, unfortunately and to great detriment of itself, the bidding of the Zionists in the region and acting like a Zionist proxy that is out there to divide and weaken the Arab world and Arab countries. Not much different from the proxies that the Iranian regime used to support which was another failure of a policy for everyone involved and eventually ended horribly for Iran and their regime.

1767561903228.png

Any way, eventually the Yemeni people themselves will determine their future. Whether they want to remain as a unified country, whether they want a North and South division or whether HAdhramout and Al-Mahra provinces (the two largest Yemeni provinces) wish to join KSA in a federal capacity with autonomy etc.

Truth be told, ,the Yemeni unification project since 1994 has not been working very well otherwise we would not be where we are today. But KSA, being a direct neighbor of Yemen with an almost 2000 km long border (extremely mountainous, desert (Rub al- Khali, in many parts completely overtaken by nature - meaning no border control at all) that shares millennia old ties with Yemen on every front, cannot allow itself to have a perpetually unstable and failed neighbor of this size next to some of the most populated areas of KSA (South KSA). Nor is that good for the development of the region.

"The influx of Emirati tourists to Riyadh Season is increasing significantly, and everyone welcomes them to their second home because these are our people and our loved ones, and they bear no blame for what the Abu Dhabi government does. The success of tourism in Saudi Arabia increases every day, praise be to God, and on the other side (the well-known resentful one) his resentment towards us increases every day."

Very good to see. The people of UAE are not our enemies and never will be but fellow Arab and Muslim brothers and sisters.

Suffice to say that Hadhramaut like much of Yemen and Arabia as a whole is home to some of the most beautiful and historical areas out there.

First and oldest skyscrapers and skyscraper city in the world (Shibam - World UNESCO Heritage Site). Yemen is also the second country in the world with the largest amount of ancient mummies after Egypt not far away. Also home to 1 of the 7 wonders of the world (Ancient Dam of Marib).

and tons more. One of the most underrated countries and civilizations on the planet which is a widely held consensus by many historians and people of knowledge.

The transfer of Tariq Saleh's forces in #Al-Makha on the western coast of #Taiz province from #UAE custody to #Saudi custody represents a development of utmost importance in the context of the supposed linkage between Emirati military tools and operational roles associated with missions to restore the state rather than dismantle it.

Saudi forces have taken over an Emirati operations center in #Jabal_Al-Nar to the east of the city of Al-Makha, signaling the start of direct operational oversight of Tariq's forces and the formations associated with him on the western coast, in the hope that steps will begin to integrate these forces into the Taiz axis under the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff Presidency of the Armed Forces.

This step represents the only and ideal measure to determine the fate of the forces that were reinforced with significant weaponry capabilities and had their combat role disrupted for several years, transforming them into an authoritarian base that played a fundamental role in poisoning the political atmosphere in the liberated city of Taiz, and opening pathways for polarization enhanced by a great deal of disruption and incitement, through a cell of activists, tweeters, and human bots.#Yasin_Al-Tamimi

Yes, Mukha (the city) is the namesake of mocha coffee for those wondering.

Yemen/South KSA itself is the birthplace of coffee (the drink). Used firstly in Sufi monasteries in the mountains some 600-700 years ago.

"Among the simplest principles of sovereignty and national justice is that the governance of any country should emanate from its own people, those who bear its burdens, live among its populace, suffer its pains, and know the details of its hardships intimately. For #Yemen, with its ancient history and the sacrifices of its sons, is most deserving to be ruled by Yemenis of pure allegiance, who have not abandoned their identity, nor exchanged their citizenship, nor distanced themselves from their land and people.

How can it be conceivable to entrust the fate of a nation like Yemen to a person who has left his country, effectively renounced his citizenship, and taken on the nationality of another state, while his family and children live outside Yemen, in hotels and luxury, far removed from the suffering of the Yemeni people who languish under war, poverty, and siege? How can someone who has not lived the daily pain of the Yemeni, stood in the queues of hunger, or heard the groans of the sick, be the truest representative of this people's will?

Governance is not a ceremonial position, nor a political reward, but a trust and a historical responsibility. And one who does not live in the homeland, does not belong to it fully, and does not tie his future and that of his children to it, cannot be a trustee over its decisions and sovereignty. Yemen does not lack men or minds; rather, it abounds with its honorable sons capable of leading it, those who have not bartered their identity, changed their allegiance, or made other homelands a safe haven for themselves while demanding to rule a bleeding nation.

The most deserving to govern Yemen are its own sons, the sincere Yemenis who have not abandoned their citizenship, nor traded their loyalty, nor forsaken their people in times of hardship. For the homeland is not ruled from afar, nor managed with a foreign passport, nor is its sovereignty built by hands that do not belong to it. Yemen is for the Yemenis, and its governance is an inherent right of its sons, not of others."

From a well-known Saudi Arabian X account with 7.2 million followers. The tweet itself has 1.6 million views.

One of the good things about this entire STC/Abu Dhabi fiasco is that their plots and alignment with the Zionists and aims of balkanizing several Arab states, has come to full light for everyone that is remotely following geopolitics in the region.

This is far, far greater for the UAE in terms of long-term reputation than just losing Yemen, Sudan, Somalia or everywhere else. UAE was never in a position to "win" in those places any way by its own account.

It is disastrous for the UAE, a country that used to be a regional example on many fronts under the late Zayed and which was famous for their non-confrontional policies.

This is not something that occurs overnight and it makes very little sense. I understand the distrust of the MB or Islamist political movements (even though most of them in essence are conservative religious movements very much aligned with Arab Islamic monarchies by nature) but UAE is not Egypt. Locals had not and do not have any interest in MB like movements or any interest in abolishing their own governments. In particular in the more conservative UAE emirates. Or anywhere for that matter given their high living standards that are greater than that of the vast majority of the West even.

So this goes deeper. As I see it the Zionists/Israel has somehow managed to manipulate Abu Dhabi into following their policies of Arab and Muslim world fragmentation under the guise of fighting "extremists" and the usual propaganda.

This does not happen for free as the UAE understands what the repercussions of following such policies are and will be long-term. They are already getting a taste of this by the enormous dislike from the Arab street from Morocco to Oman. By ordinary people alike.

So Israel likely promised them a leading role in the region, greater than what they have today, for them to undertake such stupid and counterproductive projects.

Maybe we are not privy to something here and in the wrong, most of us, but regardless it is hard to make any sense out of such stupid policies.

UAE is not the danger here, the Zionists/Israel by way of proxy is. And you cannot mention the Zionists/Israel without mentioning the US.

The same US that is openly threatened fellow European/Western/NATO partners and threatening of annexing Greenland (Danish territory) etc.

No reason why they could not/would not do similar plots in the Arab and Muslim world.

A divided Arab and Muslim world will be picked apart one by one, most likely, I have no illusions, given the disparity between us and the US/West/Israel but if united and working together, this changes drastically and such plots can be stopped.

In such a climate even old enemies, such as the Houthis, could become partners and a compromise can be found. After all, the enmity was never with any North Yemen or Zaydi (our own blood) but with a few political figures as with most other groups/countries/governments.

Similarly Emiratis do not become enemies overnight because of the moronic and counterproductive policies of a few UAE rulers/people of power.

I would guess that most Emiratis are not big fans of what their government is doing of late but in typical Arab/Middle Eastern/Muslim fashion they prefer following their government blindly in public (not to lose face) rather than voice their real opinions. Wasta and the usual stuff. I remember this from past geopolitical conflicts in the region and this "disease" is not exclusive to Emiratis but common across the entire MENA region.

it is time to end this stupidity in Yemen and for the parties to reach a political compromise and work towards Yemeni unity and fulfill the aspirations of the Yemeni people. Enough of this nonsense.

@_Arabia_ what's the SA view on future of Yemen keeping current realities in mind. Any negotiations with the Houthis to unite Yemen create a representative government and in doing so end this south Yemen liberation movement as they should also get involved in future governance.

See my previous posts, I know that most of them are long and contain long posts or many attachments.

However I will try to make it brief and some of what I am going to write to you has been stated officially and rest is my own viewpoints of the situation.

KSA and Houthis negotiated a peace on behalf of the official Yemeni government some 3-4 years ago. Basically since 2020-21 (the lovely Covid-19 days), the frontline between KSA and Houthi-controlled North Yemen has been mostly inactive/cold.

What type of understanding that was reached or the future of this relationship is difficult to tell. What I personally noticed is that Houthis were either silent in regards to the recent events in Yemen or outright supported/voiced support for KSA/Yemen government actions.

As for Yemen territorial integrity, KSA was always in favor of 1 Yemen ruled by 1 official (internationally recognized government). That was the case since the Yemeni unification in 1994. That was among others one of the aims when the Arab coalition entered Yemen after the Houthis had rebelled and attacked the Yemeni central state.

Now, if this Yemeni experience since 1994, which quite frankly has been problematic to put it mildly, otherwise the current situation would not have occurred in the first place, is coming to an end, and the North and South simply cannot coexist in a functional and successful unified state, KSA, as stated, when referring to the "just Southern demands and cause" (objectively correct), KSA will not oppose a South or North Yemen.

Simply put this South Yemen state, if it emerges, need to be representative of South Yemen and the people of South Yemen and not another warlord/cult project like the STC aimed at when they unilaterally tried to proclaim their own fiefdom while using old South Yemen symbols to gain legitimacy. Doing this while invading fellow Yemenis (Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra) by force. Even less so when all this occurred by a former partner of the Arab coalition and official Yemeni government.

That is without mentioning the ties between STC/Abu Dhabi/Zionists and their connection with similar events in Sudan (RSF), Somalia (Somaliland), Al-Hijri (Syria) and elsewhere. Which all aim at fragmenting Arab states and creating pro-Israel entities.

All this is not a coincidence, hence the swift actions of KSA and close cooperation with other regional partners who see it as a problematic thing for the region as well.

Not sure if the reaction had been the same had say a genuine locally supported South Yemeni uprising occurred with mostly peaceful means and widespread popular support. In such a case you would have to fight against the majority on the ground and that is usually a recipe for disaster and failure.

All of this was a red line for KSA which is sensitive to instability/unrest in Yemen due to sharing an almost 2000 km long border with Yemen, the millennia old ties between KSA and Yemen on almost every front and some of the largest population centers in KSA (South KSA). Not to mention the important strategic location of Yemen in terms of maritime trade etc.

It is a complex situation because there is no unitary "North Yemen" or "South Yemen" position. People from Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra are not equal to people of Aden. Similarly there are many viewpoints, groups and aspirations in North Yemen outside of the current Houthi regime.

Yemen is very tribal, most likely the most tribal Arab country. With very strong regional attachments. A Hadhrami is a Hadhrami first before he is a Yemeni. Same story with a Northerner. Due to the geography of Yemen and history of Yemen, with many smaller regional entities ruling their own entities throughout much of history, fairly recent too, the central government was often weak.

The North for instance was usually more conservative and inwards looking due to geography (typical mountain communities) than the more cosmopolitan coastal Yemen which traded with half of the world.

See the Hadhrami communities across the world as a good example of this.

1767576071767.png

As a curiosity for you as a British Pakistani and most likely Muslim, the first Muslim community in the UK (almost 200 years ago) were the Yemeni (Hadhrami community) that was mostly composed of traders.

Then you have differences in sect (Zaydis vs Sunnis - Shafi'is mostly) which historically did not play much of role due to the Zaydis being close to Sunnis in terms of the existing theological differences, but nowadays that has likely increased in terms of importance and difference.

But frankly speaking in every single Arab and Muslim country you can find great regional differences between people, in particular in the larger Arab and Muslim states.

Look at Pakistan. Kashmir and Karachi are a world apart on many fronts, as is Lahore and rural Balochistan. Let alone the geographical, ethnic, linguistic, cultural and historical differences that are even greater than within Yemen. Yet Pakistan remains a unified country. Why? Because the powerful Pakistani military has kept Pakistan afloat and the state institutions. Unlike in Yemen where they collapsed and with it the state, hence the many recent civil wars in the modern era.

It is all about how powerful the central state/state institutions are. If they weaken any state can be divided and fragment. History has shown this across the world time and time again.

Ending it here for now.

The US Treasury places a number of UAE-based companies on the terrorist list on charges of financing and arming the Houthis

1 - Arkan Mars Petroleum Companies and has a relationship with the Muhammad Al-Sindar network

2- ONX Trading FZE, which has a relationship with Saeed El Gamal’s network

3- Fornacis Energy Trading Co. L.L.C has ties to an Iranian network

4 - Barco Ship Management Inc. is a ship company

WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is designating two individuals and five entities that profit through money laundering and importing petroleum products into territory controlled by Ansarallah, commonly known as the Houthis. The Iran-backed Houthis gain hundreds of millions of dollars annually by working with Yemeni businessmen to tax petroleum imports, generating critical revenue that funds the Houthis’ destabilizing activities in the region.

Today’s action targets a network of individuals and their companies located across Yemen and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who are among the most significant importers of petroleum products and money launderers that benefit the Houthis.

Today, I met my brother, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, which was characterized by a spirit of brotherhood and understanding, views were exchanged on the latest developments in the situation in Yemen, foremost among them the just Southern issue, and ways to coordinate and enhance joint efforts were discussed in a manner that contributes to supporting stability in Yemen and preserving the security of the region.

True, your knowledge is the most prominent, but in places of conflict, war, and strife, and it always appears alongside the rebels and internationally wanted individuals due to crimes and violations—not with states and governments.

And your knowledge operates in secret, your ships and aircraft turn off tracking devices and go stealth like thieves, and lawsuits are filed against you in international courts because of that.

Meanwhile, the one who claims he made wrong decisions—MBS, the ruler of the Kingdom—intervenes in broad daylight, giving others 24 hours to leave a country in which he invested billions over ten years, moving his ships and aircraft openly and in broad daylight based on international decisions, and official governments and peoples raise his flag, not the rebels.

You’ve understood the difference, you omen of ill luck, between you and Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile life goes on:

Hadramaut Governor Inaugurates Headquarters of the Hadramaut National Council in the City of Sayun

Sayun | January 5, 2026 | Hadramaut Media.

The Governor of Hadramaut, Professor Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, today inaugurated the headquarters of the Hadramaut National Council in the city of Sayun, in the presence of the Governor's Deputy for Valley and Desert District Affairs, Amer Saeed Al-Amri, a number of the Governorate's deputies and council leaders, alongside social figures.

In his speech during the inauguration ceremony, the Governor of Hadramaut affirmed that the opening of the headquarters coincides with Hadramaut Victory Day on January 3, following the liberation of the Valley, pointing out that this day will be established as an annual national occasion that embodies the sacrifices made by the people of Hadramaut, expressing his optimism for the start of a new phase dominated by tolerance, coexistence, and strengthening national partnership.

The Governor explained that the inauguration of the council's headquarters in Sayun marks the beginning of its operations, to be followed by the opening of another headquarters in the city of Al-Mukalla, enabling the council to launch into performing its tasks across various local and regional arenas and forums, to serve as a lever for national and developmental work, while appreciating the efforts of the political leadership and the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Hadramaut.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Hadramaut National Council, Issam Habrish Al-Kathiri, expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Hadramaut for inaugurating the headquarters, considering this step to coincide with one of the immortal national days in the history of Hadramaut, noting that this day represents a pivotal station amid the difficult phase the governorate is going through, announcing the launch of the Hadramaut National Council's work to be a supportive backbone for the local authority and the rights of the people of Hadramaut.

Al-Kathiri also extended his thanks to the leadership of the local authority and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their supportive stances, affirming that Hadramaut is breathing new hope today after harsh days, and that the coming days will witness the opening of the council's office in the city of Al-Mukalla and the completion of the launch of its operations.

Short personal comment:

There is a clear axis of Zionists, UAE (Abu Dhabi), Chad, RSF, Al-Hijri in Syria and other disturbing elements, Haftar (on and off - somehow he seems the best of the lot and on somewhat good terms with KSA, Egypt and nowadays Turkey as well, Pakistan even entered the scene strongly - no doubt with prior consultation), Somaliland and Ethiopia being on the same page.

Currently there appears to develop a hidden (or rather open) alliance to combat and thwart the plans and schemes of the aforementioned entities composed of KSA, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Syria (government), Sudan (government), Yemen (government), Somalia (government), Pakistan (from a distance but clear support and somehow tacit involvement) etc.
