Fighting has sharply intensified across Yemen as the civil war enters an aggressive new phase. Over the past 24 hours, Yemeni government forces and the Saudi-led coalition launched massive, coordinated operations against Houthi positions, marking one of the most violent escalations since renewed hostilities broke out.

Ground Clashes and Airstrikes
• Government Offensive: Yemen's armed forces reported carrying out 474 precision operations and attacks within a 24-hour window, claiming to have killed or wounded 1,540 Houthi fighters and destroyed 216 military vehicles.
• Saudi Aerial Campaign: Houthi military spokespersons stated that Saudi Arabia conducted 94 air and missile strikes targeting Houthi-held areas over the same period, bringing the total number of Saudi coalition strikes to 1,350 since this recent escalation began. Extensive fighting and heavy bombardment remain concentrated around Taiz and Sa'dah.
• Logistical Bottlenecks: Houthi forces have targeted and temporarily disrupted a crucial Ground Line of Communication (GLOC) linking Taiz City and Aden City, attempting to cut off and isolate government troops.

Spillover and Cross-Border Attacks
• Missiles Target Saudi Arabia: The Saudi-led coalition intercepted three ballistic missiles aimed at Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia. However, intercepted debris from separate Houthi projectiles caused damage and injured a resident in Ahad Rafidah, Asir, while multiple explosions were also reported in Najran.
• Saudi Defensive Reinforcements: Reports indicate that Pakistan has stationed between 30,000 and 40,000 soldiers inside Saudi Arabia specifically to assist the Kingdom in intercepting incoming Houthi drones and missiles.

Geopolitical and Maritime Threats
• Bab al-Mandeb Crisis: The intense fighting along Yemen's western coast and the Houthi capture of Mayun Island have effectively compromised security around the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. This strategic bottleneck links the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden, placing vital global oil and shipping routes at severe risk.
• Coalition Pushback: In response to the loss of this territory, Riyadh is currently evaluating a limited military offensive aimed explicitly at retaking the Bab al-Mandeb Strait from Houthi control.

Humanitarian Situation
The return to total civil war has brought the country's fragile healthcare infrastructure to the brink of complete collapse. UN Envoy Hans Grundberg has held meetings with Houthi negotiators in an attempt to curb the rapidly spiralling violence. However, the immediate military general mobilisation called by Yemeni President Rashad al-Alimi signals that both sides are preparing for prolonged combat.
