Oversimplification. Another, more accurate interpretation, is simply that Iran had its opportunity to build a powerful empire that might challenge its strongest foes. For now it has failed. This creates an opportunity for Pakistan if we can negotiate around several tricky obstacles.

KSA is actually rather a weak entity and if Pakistan can seize this opportunity, it could alter the power balance in the middle east decisively.

I can't understand what the Houthis were even thinking they might actually achieve from this, other than uniting everyone , from the normally very reserved and pragmatic Malaysia to the khassi state of UAE and all and sundry in between , 100% behind Saudi Arabia. I would suggest that even most Iranians might be surprised and concerned by this move. Someone sitting in Sanaa has miscalculated.
