If they hit a ship or bases of American troops casualties or not there will be an escalation he needs a distraction from everything going on in America wars tend to be a good distraction so yeah definitely a possibility and if Iranian weaponry was used Iran could be used as an excuse to strike Iran not really hard to see this spiraling out of control.
