What is appearant is that Egypt is also losing a lot of money from reduced traffic in the Suez canal.
probably, and Egypt is just losing left and right because it cant confront Israel, it might as well remain "quiet" then.
Or is it only the Israeli bounded ships which are targeted?
That is right, until US and UK started bombing Houthis, so Houthis are now targeting Israeli, US and UK ships in the red sea. US has to show us how actually effective its red sea coalition is, because i know it is doing secret negotiations and pressure on Iran, Russia and China to reduce the Houthis threat to western shipping.

Who would've known that Houthis could damage western capitalism sooo much just by bombing their ships in the Red Sea?? Geography says US and UK are on the losing side and time is not on their side either.

Nope the mission is to impose a cost on the Houthis and eventually deter attacks on shipping.
let us know when that is succesful.
Clearly the Houthis need more convincing.
because the Houthis were not convinced by NATO's pathetic performance in the Ukraine war OR NATO's security flotilla in the Red Sea.

Fire onboard MV Marlin Luanda brought under control based on request from Master of the MV, the fire fighting team from INS Visakhapatnam comprising 10 Indian Naval personnel with specialist fire fighting equipment embarked the vessel in early hours of 27-Jan-24.

After six hours of battling the fire along with the crew of the MV, the fire fighting team has successfully brought the fire under control. The team is currently monitoring the situation to rule out any possibility of reignition.

INS Visakhapatnam had responded to distress call from MV Marlin Luanda & proceeded to provide assistance. A US & French warship also responded to the distress call. #IndianNavy remains steadfast in her commitment towards safety of merchant shipping & seafarers.

Statements are for public consumption, if the USN were there to protect shipping they would be escorting ships like the French Navy. Thus far it's a ‘pop the weasel’ mission, a launcher pops up they go kill it - rinse repeat.
The USN already tried to escort 2 US commercial ships yesterday or 2 days ago through the red sea and the Houthis fired on the commercial ships and USN escorted them back to the Suez canal, please keep up with the events going on the Red Sea. USN security mission in the REd Sea is not doing its job- Eilat port is also empty, so USN also has failed to escort Israeli ships in the REd Sea.

It is better that others underestimate the US military. Until they learn the lesson the hard way. Why argue? :D
he is arguing because the gap between hype and the truth about the US military' capabilities is very wide- it needs to be reconciled. The Gaza war closed the gap between the hype and truth about the Israeli military. Now US military is avoiding any serious clash that will show the world that its not the military power it used to be, but no one knows that better than its adversaries. US military action hasn't deterred the Iraqi resistance for example- they keep firing at US troops.

You are entitled to reconcile whatever perception gap you may have in any manner you wish. None of my concern, really.

I don't think you followed the earlier discussion. The USN isn't escorting merchant vessels with the intent of protecting merchant vessels under its missile shield. But is is true the USN have provided aid and escort to vessels that have been hit by Houthi missiles.

Is that why Houthi have not been able to sink any USN ship? Understandable, since USN ships have unmatched defenses that actually work.

Modern conflicts have become very complex in all aspects. Modern societies are very large and complex with multiple internal power groups. One group might be at odds with the US, others might not be. For instance, Houthi are at odds with the US, but other Yemeni groups are not. This situation warrants proportional responses.

The US is not fighting a world war in this case, there is no need to apply excessive force and wipe out entire cities to bend an entire society like in the Pacific War. The US is resorting to proportional responses in Yemen. This is bare minimum.

Biden has Presidential Elections to look up to. There are many who might be telling him to keep it proportional and look for ways to diffuse tensions in the Palestine.

The day the US will decide to fight for real, you will be silent. OR you will complain how barbaric Americans are. You seem to draw premature conclusions. There should be some logic in debates. It continues to lack here. No modern conflict is settled in days.
