Yemen Civil War News and Discussion.. an evolving situation

Wtf? Saudi Arabia is practically drowning in money and they haven't bought PAC 3 batteries of their own and need to borrow from US?
You think money saves countries from military incompetence? Saudis didnt fare well against Houthis in their previous clashes, so that has made KSA more wary about renewed clashes- especially with Houthis having better weapons and tactics and being less afraid of clashes with Saudis. PAC 3 hasn't fared well in Ukraine(compared to how expensive it is and the capabilities US claimed it has) either, so Saudis are looking for any real edge aka US protection and military expertise to save it if clashes with Ansarullah renew.

Saudi Arabia prevented much destruction in the country with Patriot systems.

Saudi have provided visual evidence from time to time. I found a good one in here.

Let's see what Ukrainians have to say about it.

No country that has bought PAC and entered war won it- not Ukraine, not KSA.
Strange view. Patriot system is for defense and not an offensive weapon system. Secondly, modern war is a very complex development that involves much planning and numerous tools of war to produce battlefield effects and desired outcomes. Ukrainians have shown much courage and war-fighting capacity but they are up against the most advanced Russian war machine created till date and new tools of war including drones that have changed the calculus on many levels. Russian losses in Ukraine are highest since WW2 but Putin does not seem to care. The war is ongoing but Zelenskyy does not stand a chance against Putin's most powerful weapon called Donald Trump.

Modern war is totally change. This is all gift of Iran-Iraq war. Its strange statement. But due to defense sanction Iran, a new type of weapon and type of warzone strategies developed. Iran pass those damaging strategy and planning to regional allies. A less number of people with small weapon with precision strike harm the enemy. Where big bomb lost its importance or the destruction of enemy weapon depots. For example Houthi or any other group has no weapon depot but small weapon scattered in the region.

A clarification of the American military origins in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean that is active against the Houthis.

The B-2 Spirit Ghost bombers and the Harry S Truman aircraft carrier group are currently used in an attack on Yemen.

The cost of this process within three weeks was only one billion dollars.

I wished the Houthis had a rocket that could hit Diego Garcia.

Diego Garcia is a island occupied by the UK - they banned all the indigenous native people to Mauritius and the Seychelles.

Thats what the Western nations did with all those little islands in the Ocean’s and that is what they plan for Gaza - send the natives away and occupy the territory.

Today, the UK, US and France have a lot of islands (“overseas territories”) which they occupy and use as militairy bases.

CNN Highlights Yemen's Houthi Resilience Amid Escalating Tensions

A recent report by CNN has described the Houthi movement in Yemen as a "fierce fighter," emphasizing their resilience and adaptability in the ongoing conflict.

The report suggests that the group’s strategic positioning and tactics have posed significant challenges to opposing forces.

Amid these developments, there is speculation about the possibility of ground intervention from the south and east of Yemen. Such a move could mark a significant escalation in the conflict, potentially altering the dynamics on the ground.

Analysts warn that any ground operation would face formidable resistance from the Houthis, given their entrenched positions and local support.

The arrival of American bombers in the region has been interpreted as a strong message of deterrence. Military experts believe this deployment underscores the United States' commitment to countering threats in the region and protecting vital shipping lanes in the Red Sea.

As the situation unfolds, the international community continues to call for de-escalation and a renewed focus on diplomatic solutions to address the humanitarian crisis and bring lasting peace to Yemen.

Yemen: Houthis say US airstrikes kill 6, injure 32

At least six people were killed and 32 injured Sunday in US airstrikes on Yemen’s capital and Saada Governorate, the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV channel reported.

The US carried out airstrikes on a house in the Shaab al-Hafa neighborhood in Shuaub district of Sanaa, killing four people, including two women, and injuring 23 others, including 11 women and children, it said.

In Saada Governorate, the Houthi-run Health Ministry said two civilians were killed and nine others injured in US airstrikes targeting a solar panel shop and a home in the Hafsayn area.

The Houthis also announced that US warplanes conducted nine airstrikes on Kamaran Island located off the coast of Al Hudaydah Governorate in western Yemen, though no details on casualties or damage were provided.

The US has not released any statements on the incidents.

At least 76 civilians have been killed and 182 injured in US airstrikes across Yemen since March 15, according to the Houthi-run Health Ministry.

Last month, US President Donald Trump said he ordered "decisive and powerful military action" against the Houthis and later threatened to "completely annihilate” them.

The Houthis have targeted ships passing through the Red and Arabian seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden since November 2023 in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where more than 50,600 people have been killed in a brutal Israeli assault.

The group halted attacks when a Gaza ceasefire was declared in January between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas but resumed them after renewed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza last month.
