U.S. Airstrikes Prompt Plans for Yemeni Ground Offensive Against HouthisFollowing a month-long U.S. air campaign targeting Houthi forces, Yemeni pro-government militias, backed by the UAE, are preparing a ground offensive to retake parts of the Red Sea coast, including the strategic port of Hodeidah.This follows a month-long U.S. air campaign, which launched over 350 strikes since March 15, targeting Iran-backed Houthi forces in retaliation for attacks on Red Sea shipping.A full offensive may reignite dormant civil war. Saudi Arabia refuses to rejoin any invasion, fearing a repeat of its costly Yemen campaign. The U.S. is open to supporting a local-led ground operation but won’t lead it.
According to the Saudi-based Gulf Research Center and several Arab media outlets, the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), the internationally recognized government of Yemen supported by the United States, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Nations, is massing upwards of 80,000 troops for a major offensive to retake the Houthi-controlled port city of Hodeidah on the western coast of Yemen. This would be by far the largest offensive of the ongoing Yemeni Civil War, which has seen the PLC and its allies in the Southern Transitional Council and the Yemeni National Resistance slowly grow in firepower and influence since 2017. The capture of Hodeidah would effectively surround the Iranian-backed Houthis in Western Yemen, enabling future operations to retake the capital of Sana’a which has been under Houthi control since the war began in 2014.It is not known what role the United States and other Gulf Nations which support the PLC, like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, would would play in such an offensive, if at all. However reports are suggesting that the U.S. Air Force is already aiding the Yemeni Armed Forces with intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) flights over Houthi-controlled territory in Western Yemen, while recent drone and airstrikes against the Houthis have targeted frontline positions and could be described as “shaping” to support a future offensive.
Softening them up but.... Arab militaries aren't know for offensive capabilities even when armed with yankee tanks/armored vehicles and aircraft. But I'm sure this will be different, right fellas?

a lot of that area is actually controlled by the STC not the 'government'

First of all, as already mentioned above, this image is fake. Between 80% and 85% of Yemen lives under Houthi control—the rest is desert. The U.S.-created "government" after their defeat in Sanaa can’t possibly gather 80,000 mercenaries and reach the port of Hodeidah without passing through Houthi-controlled territory. So, it’s just another piece of disinformation and fake news.
NOTE: In the past, there was the war waged by the U.S.-backed "government" + 10 puppet states from the Middle East + CIA/MOSSAD black ops groups like ISIS/Al-Qaeda + U.S./UK airstrikes—and the Houthis are still standing.

Houthi attacks on commercial shipping and the US Navy in the Red Sea have fallen off significantly.
It’s clear the US campaign has degraded Houthi capability. Now we only see the occasional ballistic missile launch towards Israel.

That, or the Houthis are giving the appearance US airstrikes are working. I've no doubt the strikes are; we are good at hitting specific targets. Yet, to think we've accomplished through conventional means what others in the region haven't been able to is a stretch.Interactive map: Red Sea attacks
