Debating party: “This is a major weakness for CCP China. You cannot emulate real combat. Their zero experience is going to make all the difference if they ever try to invade Taiwan. China has a bunch of toy soldiers that in a real war would break. That’s why Taiwan will stay free because China cannot take it. And if they ever made a mistake of going to war with the United States, that would be a rude awakening of the realities of combat for CCP China. CCP Chinas weaknesses would be exposed instantly. If mainland, China is smart they will never try to take Taiwan and they will never test their military against the United States.”

Opposite me:“Calm down, brother. You have war experience. But China has technology, industry, and production capabilities... Old China had more war experience than old Japan, and old Japan had more war experience than the US before 1942. So, your war experience cannot affect your defeat.”

Debating party:“you don’t know your history very well do you. Japan has never had more experience than the US. When Japan was dominating China during World War II, United States had already fought a world war and Japan had not. It was that war experience the USA already had that helped them completely defeat Japan and save China. The last time China fought a war was when they invaded Vietnam and China lost that war very badly. Since then they only pick on peaceful countries like Tibet and pretend that Taiwan belongs to them when it doesn’t. You see China’s neighbors don’t like them because they act like a bully and the secret about bullies is that they’re actually very scared and weak. That’s what China is a weak bully that picks on Taiwan, the Philippines, and pretends that the nine – line is real and belongs to them when it doesn’t. Bullies like China always get put in their place, just asked Germany. They used to be the bullies in Europe just like China is the bully now. If China ever crossed the line like attacks Taiwan then they will learn the hard way what happens to bullies”

Opposite me :“Calm down, bro. France surrendered to Germany in 38 days, and India surrendered to China in 20 days. In old China, China killed 1.5 million Japanese soldiers (ROC data). How many Japanese soldiers did the US kill? How many British soldiers did India kill when 30,000 British troops ruled for two hundred years? Tibet has always been Chinese territory. This is internationally recognized. Just because you inherited British colonial expansion policies doesn't give you the right to support Tibetan separatist forces. (A minority of Tibetan nobles do not represent Tibet!) ”

You have experience in war. I don't have it.

I have industrial technology. You don't have it.

I hope you can be as proud of your war experience as France in 1939, Russia in 2022, and the US in 1951.

Welcome to friendly and rational debate, brothers.

It's not so bad when you can change the terms of reference for war with your technology innovation

US doesn't have real experience engaging in large scale war with peer or near peer opponent army for long time. Fighting Iran, VZ, Taliban in Afghanistan and severely weakened Saddam's Iraq doesn't count too much in preparation of possible war against Russia or China. India has even less real modern war experience. So, these are hyped.

Does anyone remember the Russian BTG? Based on the experience of the Chechnya war, it was deployed to Ukraine in 2022.

The real issue is China versus Taiwan in war fighting. Neither has the relevant experience, sea invasion and invasion defense. It will come down to whether either society can bear the casualties and for Taiwan, the destruction, before achieving a stalemate (Taiwan) or a capitulation (China).

A defender always has a huge advantage if you're fighting any nation except the US.

China can have all the new shiny toys but they are useless when their military lacks combine arms/Joint-command capability which Russia has learned a hard lesson. Russia had the toys and had it easier since they didn't have to swim but their military couldn't fight as one.

No, bro. Since 1991, Russia hasn't had any new toys.

The problem is how is it going to fly with the Chinese public when they see Taiwanese (Chinese) women and children dead on the ground and suddenly they remember what the Japanese did to them and feel they are no better.

This is another reason for the Great Firewall. Hide any outrage from the public.

Any attack they do has to be with minimal bloodshed like the US in Iran.

at least the Chinese military technology got tested in May2025 and in the US-Iran war, and I must say it exceeded its targets and sent a shocker to all the Western capitals.
No wonder Trumpy was trying to tell China not to help Iran......

So while China may not have direct war experience, I am sure they're working behind the scenes with friendly/brotherly countries to get their tech tested and tweaked as we speak. And the experience and knowledge from that is quickly being put to work to improve further preparations.

I for one, am happy how they're working and aiding silently from behind. The chinese military tech advancement is obvious and it has the west very very worried. This is good for countries that are on very good terms with China, and specially in particular, Pakistan.

For all ordinary folks, we only know of what we saw being tested and used, and then there will be all that stuff in background which we do not know about which was also tested and validated......

You don't always need to show your hand in battles. Sometimes the silence is the most deadly hand

My point about Taiwan in this thread was based on my belief that the only shooting war that China will engage in for the next decade would be if it chooses to try to make Taiwan capitulate to its control by force. My quandary over Taiwan's behavior is that even as rich as it is and as technically capable, I don't see it spending nearly enough on anti-sea invasion hardware or on anti-missile defenses. Also, I don't see the Taiwanese as being as "patriotic" as are the Ukrainians. Finally, Taiwan now has a 1-year compulsory military service for males born after 2005, but that may be too little too late in terms of training up a credible force to repel a Chinese invasion. I don't think any other country, including the usa, would put troops on Taiwan to help defend it.

Lack war experience - get in a war and you gain the experience.

The issue for Taiwan is, its an island. China can encircle it, create a blockade stop any ships from getting to it and any leaving and sit back and do what trump is doing to Iran, but for Taiwan its 1000% worse, Iran still has borders and it can get some stuff in and out, Taiwan will crumble quicker.

Thing is I doubt the Chinese want to take Taiwan by force, their objective is peaceful reunification like Hong Kong.

The strategic depth is too limited. Chiang Kai-shek's strategy back then was to fight a decisive battle outside Taiwan. His strategic intention was to rely on Taiwan as a fulcrum to counterattack the mainland and regain political power.

But currently, Taiwan is no longer capable of launching an offensive. so the strategy of "fighting outside the territory and launching a counterattack on the mainland" has failed. With no other viable strategies available, Taiwan can only adopt a defensive posture and retreat inward.
