My friend, have you checked the map recently? China and Taiwan is only 160km apart, most of the developed regions of Taiwan is within Chinese artillery range. China will not do mass landing until Taiwan is tenderized.

We gone thru all this before.

China have a two-three weeks window for the invasion fleet to launch. Taiwan is not Iraq where the PLA can do its own version of Desert Storm. Modern day Taiwan is more sophisticated than Iraq of Desert Storm. The strait transit will take at least eight hours and Taiwan can make that journey costly. All Taiwan needs is 1/3 damage on that fleet to make the invasion a failure. Everything China does for that invasion, Taiwan will know. So, if you want to 'tenderize' Taiwanese defense, we would be looking at MONTHS of bombardment just for the HOPE that you will get enough to reduce that 1/3 damage estimation.

Am sure you understand if we do not say 'Good luck' but then again, absent the element of surprise vis-a-vis Desert Storm, luck will have to be a factor in the PLA's planning.

Could a protracted war include a military blockade around Taiwan should it declared independence.

Thats the only way to avoid a ukrainian situation where weapons are constantly being supplied. China would need to mark a redline that it sees anyone trying to arm taiwan in that circumstance as an act of war, would it be so bold to take such a move.
