Parsi community who gave this city so much, have already migrated en masse to India and other countries.

Karachi’s population grew at a massive rate post 70s and the city’s infrastructure failed to keep up. Then came the nationalization and the economic engine driving growth stuttered. And then we have the Afghan refugees influx en masse in the garbe of Afghan policy and humare bhai. That morphed into secterian violence. Furthermore, the powers that be kept on building DHAs where land was supposed to be protected for environment and natural waterways. Everything just went downhill.

The last nail in the coffin came in the form of political thievery where they did not provide infrastructure but opened their avenues to loot the public (tanker mafia, bhatta khori for instance).

Blame squarely goes to PPP, MQM, Jamatis, Establishment. Everyone wants to just loot and make an exit here.

True. If elections were free and fair, JI would probably win. They have done a good job during Musharraf’s time.

Have to say MQM were quite creative when it came to rigging during the 90s.

PPP learned well. And the establishment is using this technique nationwide.

PTI, if last election results were to go by Form 45 were winners in Karachi. I could be wrong here. Doubt they will do well or even have a footprint in next elections.

That is also farcical.
MQM had genuine support in a large part of Karachi to beat out JUI(and they acknowledged it publicly) but then this was lost to PTI to an extent in the last few years.

MQM could not have occurred without the ethnic incidents in Karachi. Military got involved later with Altaf but initially the movement was very organic.
