Iranian Air Force (IRIAF/IRGC-ASF) | News and Discussions

A leader leads by example. This man certainly doesn’t have any self discipline. All you need is two meals a day.
What an embarrassment. This fat POS is the leading the IRAF?

Worst ever commander of IIAF/IRIAF.

Cant believe we fell from Nader Jahanbani, Fakouri, Sattari to this unfit potato. Last year this guy was giving sermons on necessity of Hejab in aviation schools passing out lol. IRIAF was already struggling but under this clown, the force is just dead. One of the worst political or ideological appointment that ruined the force.

however you want to frame it, it is China's official policy that UNSC resolution 2231 has expired and therefore China is not bound by it, meaning China faces no limitations on exports to Iran.
or just create a barging card from Iran to use in negotiation with USA !?

Where do they find these laboos...

What is your evidence for this?
It is a well-known fact that the Rouhani government wanted to buy Rafale fighter jets, but the West refused to sell them. And because Rouhani government didn’t want to anger the E3 countries, they also decided not to buy the Chinese J-10.

Vahedi was pushed to the top because he is ideologically aligned with IRI.

He has ZERO charisma (Compare him to Jahanbani, Fakouri, Sattari etc)
He is a regime puppet, gave sermons on Hejab on passing out of cadets
He canceled 2021 flypast because pilots were "fasting" during Ramadan
Under him F-14AM, F-4E Dowran, Kowsar LF/AT programs died
Despite fleet becoming dysfunctional, he kept boosting about "operations"
Never fully acknowledged to media the truth about IRIAF
Compare IRIAF under him to IRGCAF under Hajizadeh (war proven force)

Like I said he is the worst thing to have happened to IRIAF. A proper IRI clown.

what point of buying J10c when our neighbours are buying F35 !?

what point of buying J10c when our neighbours are buying F35 !?
The Iranian Air Force lacks more than just an advanced fighter jet; more importantly, it lacks an advanced, modern, networked air combat system.

In modern integrated air combat systems, the J-10C/J-16/J-35, F-16V/F-15EX/F-35, and Su-35/Su-57 represent different system combinations from China, the United States, and Russia, respectively. Stealth and non-stealth fighters together form crucial air combat nodes in these systems. Different systems are incompatible.

In other words: If you directly purchase the J-35 without other modern non-stealth fighters from China, it cannot form a cohesive system with your existing weapon platforms. Its actual overall effectiveness will be significantly reduced (lower than purchasing the J-10CE alone). This also applies to the Su-57 and F-35.
Furthermore, you will need a compatible data link, command system, radar and early warning system, air defense system, etc.

Therefore, you need to first purchase J-10CE fighter jets to meet basic operational requirements. Then, gradually upgrade your air combat system. Only after your air combat system meets the basic requirements should you consider purchasing J-35 fighter jets. The same requirements apply to the Su-57 and F-35.

You article blame کاسبان تحریم
and it had nothing to do with Roohani. It was IRIAF that didn't like it.
And when Roohani wanted Rafale

The Iranian Air Force lacks more than just an advanced fighter jet; more importantly, it lacks an advanced, modern, networked air combat system.

They have a home grown IADS system(we have all seen their homegrown radars, SAM systems and C&C centers, and the lack of operational secrecy detail does not mean it is not advanced. The issue with Iran, right now is its ancient fighter fleet.

In modern integrated air combat systems, the J-10C/J-16/J-35, F-16V/F-15EX/F-35, and Su-35/Su-57 represent different system combinations from China, the United States, and Russia, respectively. Stealth and non-stealth fighters together form crucial air combat nodes in these systems. Different systems are incompatible.

A fighter platform is just a node in an IADS, with its capabilities being a function of the node. The issue of incompatibility decreases if you have a dedicated datalink like the Link-17 that Pakistan has that is common to all platforms. The question of course is, does Iran has a similar type of homegrown datalink ? That is an unknown, but that is not the same as saying that they don't.

I fundamentally disagree with this statement, it is basically wrong imho. A stealth fighter, in a non-integrated environment will still be more effective than a non-stealth fighter in that same environment. While both can use its onboard passive sensors to track targets e.g. radio emissions, the stealth platform will find it easier to creep up on a target like an aerial refueling tanker, or AEW&C and take it down before being detected. Additionally, fighter pilots in stealth fighters can accept voice commands on target location over encrypted channels and then turn on their own sensors "at the last moments" for final target solution. That setup is better than what a J10CE can do, and will offer more success.

If there is the possibility that China is prepared to sell Iran fighter jets, and China somehow trusts Iran enough to offer both the J10CE, and J-35AE, Iran should absolutely go for the J-35AE. I suspect China won't offer the J-35AE right now, so I don't see it being an issue of choice.

Furthermore, you will need a compatible data link, command system, radar and early warning system, air defense system, etc.

Given that China has allowed Pakistan to integrate its Link-17 to both the JF17 and the J10CE, and will do so for the J-35, is there any reason why it would not do the same with an Iranian datalink also(assumption being that Iran has developed its own homegrown datalink) ?

Therefore, you need to first purchase J-10CE fighter jets to meet basic operational requirements. Then, gradually upgrade your air combat system. Only after your air combat system meets the basic requirements should you consider purchasing J-35 fighter jets. The same requirements apply to the Su-57 and F-35.

To get the "best full value" out of a stealth platform, then yes, having an integrated multi-domain integrated environment already available is best, but even in the absence of that, the J-35 represents more far military value than a J10CE would have, even if you don't have the ideal environment setup.

No if you look at spec of j10a you understand why airforce didn't want that air plan

Not buying the J10A was a national strategic mistake for Iran. Had Iran bought them, then Iran could have had a fleet of J10CE's with PL15s, that would have made life for the IDF very difficult. Instead, it has obsolete F14s/Mig29s that could barely fly at all.

Had Iran purchased the J10A, then it could have had more advanced conversations on purchasing platforms like the J-35AE..

Those same J10's evolved into the platform that humiliated the very Rafales that Iran wanted to buy....

what point of buying J10c when our neighbours are buying F35 !?

Because J10's would have had the ability to go after the refueling tankers of the IDF and pushed the operations of the IDF further back into Iraq. It would have slowed down the rate of actual ground operations as the IDF would have been forced to protect its logistical operations in its rear. The IDF would have been forced to devote more resources to protecting itself during these operations, and therefore those operations would have caused less destructive damage.

Yes, some would have been lost to combat, but that is the nature of war. Instead, Iran lost tens of billions of dollars in national infrastructure...

R-37M Missiles on Iran’s New Su-35 Fighters Could Complicate Western and Israeli Attack Plans

Following confirmation from Iranian officials in January that orders had been placed for Su-35 fighter aircraft, leaked Russian government documents in October revealed that 48 of the aircraft were on order, which will be sufficient to replace approximately 15 percent of the country’s currently obsolete fleet. With personnel from Iran reportedly having long since begun training for Su-35 operations in Russia, while footage from two airbases have appeared to show preparations underway to host the aircraft, speculation has risen that the fighters may become operational within the next six months. Should deliveries occur within the next year, they will take place in the aftermath of a large scale air assault by Israel, which was supported by the United States and other Western Bloc states. Although the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps played a central role in deterring further escalation by launching mass ballistic missile attacks on Israel, the Iranian Air Force has been assessed to have played a negligible role in defending the country’s airspace during this assault.

Although the Su-35 remains behind the cutting edge, lacking comparably advanced avionics and stealth capabilities to the Chinese J-20 and J-16 or American F-35, the aircraft have the potential to allow Iran’s fighter fleet to play a much more active role in supporting the country’s air defences. Persistent bugs with the F-35, which is fielded in only small numbers by the Israeli Air Force, combined with Israel’s reliance on obsolete variants of the F-15 and F-16, make the Su-35’s deployment a potentially highly significantly development for the balance of power in the air between the two countries. Beyond the timing of deliveries, a leading question regarding Iran’s Su-35 procurement remains how well equipped they will be. Although the first Su-35 export deal that saw a small number delivered to China in the mid-2010s included fighters equipped only with R-77-1 and R-74 air-to-air missiles, both of which were far from outstanding by contemporary standards, newer missiles have since become available to modernise the Su-35.

The Su-35 in the early 2020s began to integrate the R-37M long range air-to-air missile, which is an oversized design developed for the much larger MiG-31 interceptor, and when launched from fighter sized aircraft has a range estimated at 350 kilometres. Its combination of a long range, large 61 kilogram warhead, and especially high Mach 6 speed, allows it to significantly increase the combat potential of the Su-35. Although the Su-35 lacks a comparably powerful radar to the MiG-31, which prevents it from using the missile to its full range when relying on onboard sensors, the aircraft can potentially network with Iran’s powerful ground-based air defence radars to achieve longer range kills. Against higher radar cross section targets such as strategic bombers, AEW&Cs, and aerial tankers, the fighter’s radar may be sufficient to support targeting at full ranges. The R-37M would allow Iranian fighter units to threaten targets far outside the country’s airspace, and could be a force multiplier for Su-35s allowing them to engage from well outside adversaries’ retaliatory ranges. Israeli and Western forces’ heavy reliance on tankers to refuel their fighters to reach Iran makes the deployment of such a missile a potential game changer.
