But F-15EX is kinda of meh at this point in time.. They should go for Kaans or FC31

If they acquire the F-15EX with 160 km AIM-120C8, this deal will be valuable; otherwise, it will be a waste of money


btw Egypt can get KAAN after 2035 for future plans
Chinese FC-31 is only option for now but USA threatening Egypt not to buy Fighter Jets from Russia and China

There is no significance, because just like their Rafales and F-16s, they don't have BVRs, anf aren't capable of taking on Israeli F-35Is in any serious way.

This is a vanity purchase.

This procurement is truly a waste of military procurement capacity of the EAF. Truly madness imho. They can use the money on "other projects" to modernize their military and they should be focusing on J-35AE's instead of non-stealthy F-15EXs..

The only people who benefit from this procurement is Israel and the USA, not the Egyptian people or its airforce. This F15EX is a "squatter" that will take up "space" in the EAF that could be "occupied" by other better platforms.

So, it is possible for other countries to do so. Even North Korea has developed its own BVR missile with a 120km range. Yes, some variants/technologies will be more efficient than others, but it is not as exclusive as you make it out to be. Both Indonesia(Muslim country), and South Korea are working on BVR missiles, as is Japan right now.

Yeah, I really think the Saudis would struggle to take on more F-15s, they simply do not have the manpower, my guess is this is them paying off Trump. Unsure how happy even the EAF will be about this..

They are just buying a jet, that if ever used against Israel, will be tempered as the F-15s only confirmed air to air kills. None in the 50+ year history of the jet, but Egypt could change all that.

KSA is rumored to get at least 48 F-35 (SA model - supposedly superior to the standard like our F-15SA which are superior to the standard version) when MbS visits the White House in 9 days time.

Egypt is "castrated" in many regards due to the peace deal they had to sign with Israel (Camp David) to get Sinai back. Israel/US will never allow them to have more powerful weapons on paper than Israel next door given the military size of Egypt and population.

They will have to navigate around that, hence the cooperation with China and Russia, but it is not easy, when much of your economy is dependent on the West, including tourism from the West.

Hence the many different operating systems. Some kickbacks as well, after all, as I wrote, Egypt is ruled by the military since 1952.

Saudi air force is very good but please do not claim there is not a manpower issue. The RSAF still relies heavily on outside contractors and deputised personnel
