In the grand scheme of things, this restructuring makes absolutely no difference on the ground, except for tinkering with internal appointments and promotions within the armed forces; again, in the long run, they are playing a political game.

Let's not forget removing accountability.

However, please let us know what they want to be, and then we can discuss this further in the future. In the meantime, let's refrain from using the term "armed forces," which is often associated with other professional standing armies, and avoid turning it into an insult.

The Lahore chapter of the Aurat March has shared a scathing statement about the contentious 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill, which was passed in the Senate on Monday, calling it an “affront to the spirit of the Constitution”.

In a statement released the same day, the collective categorically rejected the amendment, saying it “defangs the judiciary and undermines the very spirit of the 1973 Constitution”..

The vote on the 27th constitutional amendment has been delayed until tomorrow (Wednesday) in the National Assembly. Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar tabled the 27th Constitutional Amendment in the National Assembly on Tuesday, a day after its smooth passage through the Senate.

The National Assembly (NA) began its session on Tuesday morning, led by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, to vote on the 27th Constitutional Amendment. The session began with prayers for the late Senator Irfan Siddiqui, after which lawmakers are expected to debate and decide on the proposed changes that have drawn sharp criticism from legal and political circles alike.

Tarar said the bill “seeks to strengthen institutional harmony and judicial accountability” and added that past amendments “caused unnecessary friction between the judiciary and parliament”...

For bootlickers, anyone who doesn't agree is a cultist. I am not a fan of PTI - they turned out to be as corrupt as the others.

Showbaaz, plastic bitch, nawaja, madari 10% and billo rani - all 'selected' leaders who don't mind elevating Muneera first to 'Field Marshal' - I am still waiting for someone to tell me exactly which war did he win, and now making him taa-hayat whatever because he is such a gift of God to Pakistan.

This is cringe enough to make anyone throw up - anyone with a bit of self worth that is.

Countries have armies and in Pakistan, Army has a country - in practice that has been true since the first 'Field Marshal' but now they have made it constitutional. Muneera and others who will follow him are above the law - not just practically but now officially.

What’s there to "analyze"? Can’t you simply read the writing on the wall in this "constitutional" amendment and look for yourself where Pakistan is headed after that?

'Spirit of the 1973 Constitution'. Yes, it does. Is it bad? Only time will tell but in a country where a sitting Prime Minister flagrantly throws out a required vote on a No Confidence Motion and then become a hero by paddling his falsehood, don't expect some Jeffersonian Democracy.
The 27th Amendment is for stability and focus. And looking at some prominent business entities' statements, some of them are indeed welcoming it because they, of all people know, that 'stability' is what Pakistan needs. Plenty of countries have advanced to the next stage of their socio-economic evolution by being under 'authoritarian system'. Pakistan needs to shed its half-baked experimentations with 'democracy', tried since 1988 after Zia's death, and put its house on order. So the country’s constitution only applies to the prime minister and not also to everyone else who violates it, such as the military establishment?
