In an ideal world where we have at least a working relationship with Afghans, and their country was not a complete shit hole. We could have an EU style arrangement where Afghans and Pakistanis can just drive across whenever they want. Visa free. Win win situation for everybody.

I think, Imran Khan appointing Achakzai and Afridi isn’t because he has "lost his mind". It’s rather because military establishment has closed all doors shut for him, whether they be political or judicial (this one is actually his right but no human rights exist in Pakistan so…). In this environment of complete suffocation, he chose the only option left, but the military establishment ain’t happy with that either because those people he recently appointed are all "anti-state".
