You are assuming he's given a way out. I don't think so: Inciting mutiny in Pakistani military is not a small matter to ignore. The reason he's being played with kids gloves is because he has convinced people in K-P that he is one of them fighting against the corrupt Punjabi Daal Khors; ironic for a Punjabi himself but then Pakistanis are very simple, gullible people who keep voting for a dead Bhutto in Sindh almost half a century later.

Chief of the Army (COAS) Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir is set to see a reset to his tenure as the army chief upon his appointment as the chief of the defence forces (CDF) after the National Assembly approved changes to laws pertaining to the three branches of the armed forces shortly after the government tabled them.


The amendments were tabled soon after President Asif Ali Zardari gave his assent to the contentious 27th Constitutional Amendment, enacting it into law.


Defence Minister Khawaja Asif introduced the Pakistan Army Act (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Pakistan Air Force (Amendment) Bill 2025 and the Pakistan Navy (Amendment) Bill 2025, which were passed with a majority vote.

Seems my prediction is abit off

I predict bilawal will release IK in 2028 due to poor health and old age after being PM for few years but it seems it might be maryum nawaz after munir takes a another extension of end of this 5 years that will release him somewhere in 2033 or may die before that.

Thank you for summarizing the disconnect that has been the proverbial albatross around the Pakistani neck for the past 2+ years.

IK is a persona-non-grata for the establishment at this juncture, period. All these latest constitutional changes are being made to protect the existing establishment from IK/PTI's reaction if they do come back in power.

Who made that decision, and are you content with it?

No matter how one looks at it, from any angle or supporting of any party or ideology, this is plain wrong.

Concentrating power to a single entity with limited accountability is a recipe for disaster.

This will probably affect the army as an institution over time.

From the military reforms pov and the new role of CDF, if these guys are really sincere, then as the experts have said, they should institutionalize and make it such that its more meritorious and actually bring changes to the tri-services commands to enable joint cooperation and fast track decision making which will be beneficial. Otherwise if its just a power grab by one branch of military, then I am afraid no good will come out of it.
