Jinnah Class Frigate | Updates & Discussion

Reportedly will have varying iterations but woth possible larger more cell laden variants im the future.

That's just speculation, TBH I don't think PN is going to go beyond 16 cells perhaps in the future if the MIDLAS gets certified for the CAMM ER we might see them in some later JCFs but Even that IMO is unlikely.

I am not too happy with this configuration however this ship will be the most advance ship of pn when inducted only type 54ap will have more vls anti air modules

how much price would've increased if they went for 32 cells instead of just 16? I mean for a modern even a medium class Frigate 16 cells are nothing. We have 32 cells with Type 54P's so what's the point of reducing the numbers of VLS ? The ship AD is questionable which is probably the most important part of a ship.

If we go for MIDLAS it makes more sense to get turkish missiles than going through the hassle of CAMM ER integration.
Regardless the number of CAMM ER tubes on JCF is limited by funds and PN's philosophy when it comes to surface vessels rather than by space or VLS constraints.

I am gonna use per missile cost of $600,000 and per launcher cost of $416,000 and a spare ratio of 0.5

I took the figures from SIPRI's trade register and they seem reasonable enough to me

Assuming 4 Jinnah-class frigates, by going from 16 to 32 cells you incur an extra cost of: (16*4*1.5*0.6)+(16*4*0.416) = $84.224 million

I hope the math is correct

Navy always do a kneel laying ceremony attended by CNS or PM / President to mark the official start of construction. It did for all the ships & submarines till date from smaller ones to large ones. But there is no such ceremony held for JCF yet. Not even a press release.

So I think, design phase was completed and work on the hull itself has not started yet. JCF will take good 5 years before its inducted. Early 2030s.
* keel laying :)

Although I think Jinnah class should have more VLS I would like to as learned members that if a high number of missiles are fired at you in that scenario how many missiles a ship is supposed to defeat to be considered successful?

This is purely the cost of systems to be placed on a ship. The amnount of money required to engineer and built the space required for the extra vls cells along with other associated costs to crew and maintain these systems whilst not compromising on other aspects of the design can easily double your estimate

You added the cost of existing 16 cells too. So that estimate should be half if you are talking about extra cost only.

That's the cost of everything other than the missiles themselves, so the VLS tubes, launching mechanism and possibly integration as well.

Since 32-16 = 16, I only calculated the cost of 16 missiles + VLS + spares

Sounds good. Around 21M per ship looks very worth it.
