Pakistan Navy | News & Discussions

Replacing FM-90N with HHQ-10 and C-802s with Harbah or SMASH should suffice. What you are suggesting would require significant resources and time, which given PN's situation, would be better spent on newer ships.
That is reasonable. I have made the same argument in the past as well. However to put in perspective the cost, the Thai navy put ~$40-50M into each Naresuan class ship to upgrade them with Mk-41 VLS and new sensors and CMS from SAAB. Wirh inflation and more expensive sensor/VLS PN probably looking at ~$70M per ship. Any new frigate with similar capabilities would cost PN at least $200M (most likely something based around Yarmook II design) and more likely $300M if we are talking JCF.

However if PN goes that route, i would use goksur instead of hq10 (while hq-10 does come in a 24 cell config, Goksur 100-N is 20 cells and it offers a 15km range vs 9km). Even if you forgo the VLS for a PDMS, You desperately need sensor upgrades and a new CMS. Something like Smart S mk2 or cenk-400 and an ADVENT CMS. Can also consider new defensive systems like ARES ECM/ESM and HIZR anti-torpedo systems.

The locals in Pakistan who are helping this flow, must be arrested. They cannot do this without help in Pakistan.
I wouldn't be surprised if the TTP/A were behind this, terrorism financing is usually closely associated with illegal drugs.

Unlikely. These illegal drugs, illegal imported stuff, branded items, whiskies and alochols of every kind is being transported via sea in and out of the country for several decades and its going on from much earlier then TTA/TTP even existed. There are other powerful people inside country who makes fortune out of this.

BTW, We only hear about successful intercepts. We never know how many times these drugs / illegal stuff goes right under the nose. The fact illegal sea trade is happening that means they do know about patrol schedules and other details and have "insiders" help.

Secondly, we never heard any news what happens with those illegal drugs OR any illegal imported stuff that's been seized?

This time these drugs were intercepted by PN but many times its Pakistan Coast Guard (which is headed by Pakistan army serving major Gen). So Army ensure all border trades, everything is under their influence even if its PN's domain.

The recent drug seizures - I would not be surprised if India and A-Stan terrortists are running these drug runs. In fact I would say that via these drug runs, India is funding TTP and Taliban terrorists. That is why recently Indians seem to be angry - they have lost more than $1-billion worth of drugs in the last few weeks.

i believe disrupting their supply chain is the way because otherwise they keep pouring in and exploding..

PN chief visited BD not long ago now BD chief in Pak? We already train BD cadets at PN Academy. Could these high level visits imply platform purchases in the future? Maybe Jinnah class?

The visit reflects strong bilateral naval ties and a shared resolve for regional maritime stability.
