General rules are, if you can't pass an NCIC check, you can't own. It depends on many factors. You either have/had a felony conviction against you or misdemeanor drug or weapon charges, or you are mentally unstable, or you are an alien. You don't need a license in the US unless you are going after Title 2 Firearms; you can just go to a gun store, gun show, or even auction and buy them if you can pass a NCIC check.

What I will say is, if you want to know more and get into real training, contact your local gun range, and they most likely will be very happy to help you. They will tell you a lot more and be more interactive with you.
 
we are going to need to serious vet all the ex-ANA members, especially any zero unit vets. Possible loose cannons waiting to cause havoc.

Based on some podcasts; there were about 9000 Zero unit operators. Only some of which made it to the US. But this does seem like the guy snapped, felt jaded, worse than that guy in the pullover by police incident.

It's supposed to mean that that post was an anti Muslim sentiment commentary, posted on a Predominantly Muslim member forum.

Now, back to the question regarding the suspect. Due to his status, being in the US under humanitarian parole, chances are he would be prohibited from purchasing a firearm because of his status. Again, the situation is complicated. If it is indeed true he was granted asylum earlier this year, then chances are good he would have been eligible to purchase a firearm based on that status. Again, there are other federal and state laws that apply that could have made him ineligible. A trace of the serial number of the weapon he used initially will help determine that.

Interim Afghan government may very well provide necessary intel and support to bring justice to this act of terror.

If a large enough network is detected given the ISIS element, they may allow limited operations from Bagram airbase.

The perpetrator has brought shame upon Afghan people.
