Iranian Air Defence Systems | News and Discussions

I was wondering if iran push Zubin SAM design to same lvl of IRIS-T may be Zubin 2 range including electro-optical missile with 30Km and radar guided one upto 50Km, dual Launcher, one hosting 8-12 electro-optical instrument and other one will have radar mast and components, 4x4 truck off road

Another user posted this and I asked if this was confirmed to be real because if shrapnel from about thousand feet was flying from different directions at that speed would undoubtedly make it dangerous for Iranian troops who launched that counter measure that shrapnel would hit the ground before you could blink
If you see most of Air bases around the world have hardened shelters entrances just aside the landing stripes. So if sirens or any kind of alarms is activated there should be enough time to go to them. Even you can put some armores vehicules near aircraft as a improvises shelters.
I doubt about the real utility of the system. But It is better to try It and fail than just doing nothing.

The Zubin system is said by some to be a copy of the South African Umkonto system. It uses terminal-guided infrared missiles so it can attack multiple targets at once, as I recall.

Could these drones not be jammed ?

It seems like in early days of war IADS just got paralyzed to the point of dysfunctionality. They kinda made a return in the end but that was below than expected.

Kinda healthy outcome is that they can now re-group and see the shortcomings.

Its btw happening all over the world in recent wars. Airdefences are crippling, not performing the way they should have. Russian, Chinese, US, Israeli, Iranian AD systems have failed in recent wars. Missile tech has exceeded the AD tech by far.

Fire all of the old guards....we've seen how they managed, and it's not good. We need new blood, new thinking, new leadership.

This is a mystery to me as well. Literally, a soldier with a Misagh Manpad in hand can bring this drone down if not for TELARs or SHORAD batteries.

Was there a deliberate attempt at allowing this? mutiny ? what could be the reason.

In case people wonder why drones were able to fly fighter over Iranian cities is because of the damages that were inflicted by internal saboteurs.

Most of long range radars and command centers were partially damaged. Israel using Iraqi airspace to launch ALBM was an other reason.

S-300 was damaged by sabotage and it hadn't any chance to react to ALBMs.

Iraq's retarded government has to understand if they don't want to be a legitimate target for everyone around, they have to take charge of their airspace.

Most influential way to counter and chasing drones of that class in case of absence of asymmetric warfare oriented radars, is using helicopters armed with short range air to air missiles and precise cannons. For a country with the size of Iran we need hundreds of attack helis.
