If we look at the general picture yeah Türkiye is technologically ahead. It’s not really possible for Pakistan to be 1 or 2 generations ahead. Because like @Michael (the Chinese guy) said, technology isn’t something that just “progresses by itself.” You need money, investment, years of training people, then even more money to turn that tech into an actual product. Then you improve it again and scale it up. It doesn’t fall from the sky. South Africa is a perfect example of this. China is a perfect example. South Korea is a perfect example. Türkiye is also a perfect example.

But nobody can deny this either: in the Türkiye–Pakistan relationship, Türkiye is the side that benefits the most. Whether it’s money, political support, or anything else, Türkiye gains more in this partnership.

So yeah in one way you can call it win-win, but it’s debatable from Pakistan’s side.

All I did was explain the stupidity of Turkish news channels to someone, then explain how the two countries look at the ballistic field differently because of tactical differences, not because of technological inferiority. I rarely comment on forums. I guess I just remembered again why I don’t feel like commenting.

I see Türkiye Pakistan cooperation as a win win for both sides. Just like China Pakistan cooperation is a win win. We don't compete with our allies. I have absolutely no qualms in admitting that Türkiye is in certain areas ahead of Pakistan.

4 out 8 have been launched.. I believe these will see their commissioning in PN in coming 2026-27 .while other four will be built in Pakistan our the years. I guess, two are already in construction phase.
I t looks by maximum 2030 , all 8 will be commissioned.

As per agreement, 4 submarines are being built in China & remaining 4 will be constructed in Pakistan by KS&EW, under Transfer of Technology (ToT).

Submarines will be fitted with advanced weapons & sensors capable of engaging targets at standoff ranges.

What’s the word on the Chinese propulsion on these submarines? Any specs are probably highly classified, but did we manage to get a decent trade off vs the MTU/Siemens product?

Chinese improved it and looks like both PN and Thais have accepted it as good enough

kinda...its just a wetdream..the PN hasn't talked about the subs being different in characteristics...which would cost more and would probably need change in a lot of systems or overall design...but different duty thing could be possible...but im no expert so take it with a pinch of salt

There is no comparison in terms of technological development. Turkey is way ahead of Pakistan except for Nukes.

It just came to my mind that we might be getting a real deadly beast next year with our first Hangor-class submarine, and that is the YJ-18 AShCM (Pakistan-specific export variant, probably?), which would level up our game in A2/AD and ASuW domainns to a whole new standard and keep the Saarlanders at bay for a long time. Much more deadlier than anything we currently have right now in our overall conventional arsenal.

In my honest opinion, the YJ-18 suits our needs much better than a dedicated supersonic AShCM, which has a majority high-altitude flight, early detection probability, lesser range, and a Hi-Lo dash profile such as the YJ-12/CM-302, at least in our naval domain, since the YJ-18 has a constant subsonic (fuel-efficient, more range) sea-skimming cruise profile with a supersonic sprint in its terminal phase at the same altitude (hugs waves for max clutter evasion vs. Barak-8), which, imo, makes it even more deadlier than the raw-energy punching YJ-12/CM-302 AShCMs. Acquiring them off the shelf with a ToT/locally assembled typa artificial tag would also serve us right for the time being in deterrence part.






Also, it is much more advanced (ECCMs, BeiDou integration) than the Russian Kalibr Club-N and Club-S variants (on which this missile is based) armed on some Indian subs and warships. Just imagine a Hangor-class sub of ours stored with at least 14–16 YJ-18s (suppose 2–4 spare torpedoes) in a primarily anti-ship strike role, wandering in the Arabian sea to hunt down the stinky Indian CBGs, the Indians would keep their entire fleet at least hundreds of kms away from our waters.

This is thanks to Pakistan. After Pakistan completed the construction of its submarines, the Thai military sent a letter to Pakistan to inquire about them, and after receiving a satisfactory response, made the decision to purchase.

It seems Germans are not providing diesel engines for the Hangor subs. Hopefully,it is solved

China is in another league now. Nothing is too complex. This is not even an expectation anymore. China will be producing world class diesel electric engines and with Hangor they already have demonstrated their capabilities.
