What will happen to German industry? What will happen to German automobiles? We are not sure.

Currently, Germany's three major automotive giants—Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Volkswagen—are all striving to save themselves. One important strategy is to localize their operations in China. German Mercedes-Benz is becoming Chinese Mercedes-Benz. ------ Of course, this expression wouldn't be used in formal settings.

This is a positive and commercially logical decision made by German automotive companies based on reality. The decision itself is reasonable. The problem is, German politicians might not allow them to do this.

Even in communist countries like China, when labor-intensive industries like apparel and textiles fail to turn a profit due to rising labor costs, the government actively guides these businesses to relocate to the four Mekong River countries.

There is no solution. that’s not a technical problem. Merkel boxed Germany into a corner there is no escape. Too late.
She scraped nuclear power plants. She bet the fate of Germany on a poker table. She bets on Russia as energy supplier, China as consumers market, USA as security provider.
Now shit happens.
All 3 China, US and Russia run away.
On top she let 1 million of migrants into the country. Nothing wrong with immigration but she let people in from aliens far from civilization.

Exactly the opposite. China's industrial chain is protecting the only remaining large enterprises in Germany, and China is now a refuge for German companies.
You can go to Taicang County, Jiangsu Province, China to take a look. German companies are all taking refuge there. There are currently 568 German companies in Taicang County, among which 18 of the top 20 German companies are located in Taicang County. These German companies are using China's industrial chain to sustain their survival.

As to the thread's topic, I don't know enough but looking at some of the comments above, I tend to think there is a definite decline of Germany but they are a very smart, hardy people despite the 'decadence' of the 'late stage Capitalism' and, with the influx of right kind of immigrants, have several more decades of prosperity ahead. But I also think countries like Germany and Japan remain still conquered and occupied countries--ultimately unable to make decisions suitable for their own needs.
PS. Your post made me think how India could have been the place where massive manufacturing could have happened instead of China. The English language advantage, the so-called 'World's Largest democracy', the vaunted IT sector, the 'natural ally of the West', the yearlong favorable climate, the many warm climate ports, the massive cheap labor... All those advantages mostly squandered due to India's rotten systems.

But, overlooked the real important ones such as modern societal and cultural conditions, efficient and effective governments, educational skills of the population, modern infra, quality of the population and yes the temperate climate not all year round hot tropical that are condicive to work. After all, Japan, SK, Taiwan and China all dont have huge English speaking population, and all didnt have so called democracy when they industralized. All these countries fall in the temperate climate zone. The only countries besides whites that have industralized in the last century are the East Asian Confucian countries.

German industrial production fell back to 2005 levels in August as output in the country’s all-important car industry cratered by 18.5 per cent compared with the previous month.

The unexpectedly poor data comes as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is set to meet the bosses of the country’s carmakers on Thursday in Berlin to discuss the woes of the struggling sector. Merz has promised to reinvigorate the Eurozone’s biggest economy but has so far fallen flat.

Overall, industrial production fell 4.3 per cent in August compared with the previous month, seasonally adjusted data showed on Wednesday. Economists had predicted a smaller drop of 1 per cent in a Reuters poll.

German made a bet on China. It backfired badly. It assumed China would remain primarily a market, not a peer competitor.

Dependence on Russian hydrocarbons was a strategic failure. They shut down nuclear after Fukushima, despite no seismic risk. They made no attempt to cut dependence on Russia.

Immigration is another lousy bet. Bringing in culturally incompatible and unskilled Middle Easterners is a bad idea.
