JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

In the international fighter jet trade, publicly available order information usually only includes the total number of fighter jets and the total contract value. However, a complete contract typically includes not only the fighter jets themselves, but also weapons, spare parts (including engines and other spare components), pilot training, and in some cases, base construction, combat command systems, communication systems, MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul), and technology transfer. No contract publicly discloses all the specific details.

Therefore, it is a significant mistake to assess the unit price of a fighter jet based solely on the total contract value and the total number of fighter jets.
So in your opinion what will unit price will be ... Excluding all additional costs?

When will we have something like a Brahmos to fire from our JF-17s and J-10s, for conventional use. Something we can use if India wants to make these skirmishes a regular event.
Only if someone can design and construct a ramjet-powered missile (4,000lb thrust) with a 100kg warhead and total weight of 1,000kg.

Assuming Bangladesh has formally requested the acquisition of 16–24 JF-17 Block 3 aircraft with weapons, training, and ground support. The key question is when will production begin? Pakistan is presently focused on fulfilling JF-17 Block 3 orders for Azerbaijan, while two additional countries have also expressed interest in the fighter.
If order numbers increase .. china can join production.. they already have facility... We know Chinese speed ..

Yeah that was the case when it came to ground crew and air traffic control, majority of that has been reduced. They do have two instructor fighter pilots....one of them might have broken the world record for the oldest active jet fighter pilot in the world as of last week....he is part of the evaluation team to see if the RBAF can have a fleet of JF-17Bs
They are looking for Bravos Block 2 (which we have currently) or block 3 (not available yet) ?

Again.

China does not have the capability for mass production of the JF-17 series fighter jets, nor does it have any interest in doing so. In fact, the CAC is continuously reducing this capability.

Make sense... If there any possibility that china can transfer to PAF what ever they have limited production line established is past to Pakistan form CAC ..

You should learn more about basic knowledge in the industrial field.

CAC does not have a JF-17 production line; they only have experimental production facilities. This method is only used for experimental manufacturing and some improvement work trials by R&D institutions, and its manufacturing cost is very high. Moreover, this method is entirely manual. The salaries of these national-treasure-level technicians at CAC are very high. No company would use this method for mass production.

CAC still retains the manufacturing capabilities for a small number of parts that PAC cannot produce. This is due to PAC's lack of some specialized equipment.
For example: heavy forging machines. This is a key piece of equipment in the aircraft manufacturing field. It is mainly used for processing the core load-bearing components of aircraft. This equipment is very expensive. PAC only produces more than 20 fighter jets per year. However, this machine only needs a few days to produce the core load-bearing components for more than 20 JF-17s. It would be idle for more than 300 days a year. However, this machine is used frequently at CAC.
There are other similar situations.
CAC has long lost interest in the JF-17 series of fighter jets. They don't want to retain the production molds for these small number of core load-bearing components. The problem is, PAC doesn't have the capability to take over these capabilities.

Currently, only China has complete fighter jet production capabilities globally. Whether it's the United States, Russia, or France, none of them have the ability to produce 100% of their active fighter jets domestically. This cannot be changed by political slogans.

It's not that China doesn't want to transfer these capabilities, but rather that Pakistan is unable to take on these tasks.

Latest news:
CAC's Chengdu headquarters recently acquired a large plot of land to build a brand new factory complex. According to the announcement, the factory will primarily be used for the production of aerospace products.
CAC even handed over the J-10 project to Guizhou; now they are working on aerospace products. Do you think they still have any interest in continuing with the JF-17 project?
