Cannot actually relate two. 1965 was a full blown war. Entire squadrons were up against numerically massive enemy. Continuous war operations is a whole different ball game.

Undoubtedly, PAF was blessed with professional & capable chiefs for the most part. However, for swift retort it was not only the planning but we simply had better technology as well. More capable EWs, AEW&Cs and F-16s with Amraams combo simply outclassed whatever indians had that time. An indian commentator revealed that he asked IAF why Sukhois didn't shoot back, the airforce said Sukhois were unable to get a lock.

I am sure, PAF had professional & capable leaders during Kargil, but PAF simply couldn' t participate / challenge IAF when it was slaughtering our boys because technology was heavily in favor of India. They had BVR capability and PAF completely lacked it. There was complete mismatch.

Anyways swift retort was a successful counter strike mission. Credit to lot of people in Airforce including these two (then serving officers) in below image taken from National security committee on 26th Feb 2019. Then CAS, ACM Mujahid & AM Haseeb Paracha. The later was probably also the candidate for CAS position, an ace pilot himself and master planner. Back then PAF wasn't doing any self marketing gimmicks. Good old days.

I still remember, ACM Mujahid had a smile on his face in that meeting when he was already told that whole of next counter operation would be his responsibility, while Bajwa's body language was terrible, looked worried even though he had no part in Op swift retort to play. Air Command had full confidence on their capabilities to execute the operation with accuracy.

i cant agree more, in my opinion he should have continued for another term.

There must never be an extension, no matter how brilliant a chief is.

Its a professionalism killer.

The forces should be built as organizations and not something to depend upon individuals. Secondly, extensions creates favoritism in the organisation. The officers can start creating political links and in high places for such stuff. Secondly, it demotivates & denies the next deserving leaders who could have fill that spot but will never get their as previous guy is sticking to the position.

Hope does spring eternal - but that was in jest regarding extensions .

What do you think, why they did all this election fiasco? for what?

And with recent move of allocating women & minorities to PDM 2.0, they gave 2/3 majority to them for the very reason.

No matter how deserving it may seem.

There isn't any.... the criteria is very simple fulfil the commands & get promotions & extensions.

1. Are H-2 and H-4 SOW actually manufactured by NESCOM?

2. Do we retain the ability to produce them?

3. Why have they never been offered for export?

Denel transferred kits over - helped integrate them and there is maintenance ability available.

2. I don’t believe we can(or want to) build them from scratch

3. Raptor series has been available for export by Denel since the late 90s.

It wouldn't matter either way. The H-2/H-4 series is aging. The PAF is moving towards guidance kits it can configure onto the MK-8X-series GPBs.

In the old days, you couldn't do much with those PGB kits other than configure them with either INS/GNSS or SALH. However, we're starting to see dual-mode stacks that incorporate INS/GNSS plus both SALH and IIR. The rise of automation and AI/ML-driven smart guidance technology could also reduce the need for the man-in-the-loop.

The Denel (now EDGE) Tariq series is a good example of where you can take this approach:
