No, but LATAM is not Asia. Venezuelans generals probably war games out how a conflict could have gone. At most the would have lasted an extra few weeks:

The real danger from Venezuela is a migration of half of Venezuela into the US, after the US backed regime cutoffs their social services (despite what the expected propaganda to come will say of a booming local economy, low crime, tourist opportunities, and good employment for average Venezuelans).

Trump can only prevent this with a second step, after taking out any remaining hostile regimes in LATAM, friend shoring / near shoring:

This can also reverse other immigration flows. Allowing those on refugee or other temporary status to return to their countries in LATAM.

Btw, how much oil/gas did China buy from Venezuela? Officially and via the shadow fleets? End of oil/gas from Venezuela will mean a higher price of commodities from China as well as more dependence, by China, on oil and gas from Africa and the Middle East as well as Russia.

If Trump does this playbook on Iran and China loses that supplier as well, or doesn’t get the preferential oil pricing, it could make them dependent on US vassals (GCC) and Russia. Leaving them vulnerable to having the economy crippled.

I don’t think China actually cares or minds US has invaded Venezuelan. I believe US has already contacted and spoken to China and told them there will no restrictions to their oil supplies and minerals exports to China.

I was thinking along the same lines: The so-called 'Spheres of Influence' idea per NY Times in a major article in May 2025 where the Trump admin was thinking about dividing the world in the good old imperial ways with China and Russia. Trump seems very aggressive to tamp down any opposition to America in the Western Hemisphere--as an aggressive display of the Monroe Doctrine.
But I have not seen NY Times or other credible sources discuss the Spheres theory after that article except some good Indian analysts were worried if that were to happen for India's sake.

Trump won’t even have to do that, officially, just rope Mexican forces into being “the face”, while US special operators conduct raids. If Mexico doesn’t accept, Trump can cut off their imports into the US or make it harder for Mexicans to come and go into the US.

That usually the playbook. Probably somewhere in the “Back 40” out at Campbell (where the 160th are based) or considering the insertion over water, possibly from Harvey point in North Carolina where they practiced the OBL raid:
