The problem is, it touches nothing in the government structure, and you need to control the government to take control the oil. I mean, what would the US do if Delcy Rodríguez said she is taking over from Maduro? The US didn't touch any of the government other than Maduro himself; the entire thing is 99% intact.
Sure, there are chances this power vacuum can lead to a civil war, but in the end it will still be the side that pro-Maduro rule because the opposition resistance did not really exist at this point; they had no shot at the government.
If this is a flip, I am pretty sure the US will basically paralyse the entire Venezuela and then attempt to lift or kill all of the government ministers or at least damage Venezeulean military enough for the Opposition to have a shot, they did neither......

If you are right in your post then it begs a big question: Why did Trump risk American servicemen in such a risky operation? Even five dead bodies would amount to 5000 dead bodies politically for a 'pro Peace' President. Biden couldn't bear the 13 dead bodies at the Kabul Airport in August 2021.

More chaotic and war torn country, and given the rise of Fascism and ultra nationalism, west are still bombing countries but also shutting their own borders.

Trump just gave statement in that direction you wrote about, pretty obvious he made backdoor deal for such, this time i doubt that he spew his usual shit show and to back away as nothing happened being satisfied with successfull anti narcotic operation.

If there was a backdoor deal, it wouldn't be the US JSOC doing this; it would be Maduro's people doing this. You don't send your own troop in if you already secured a backdoor deal. That makes no sense.

Also, this doesn't change the equation. I don't see how, with the government structure intact venezuela would be willing to partner with the US all of a sudden. As I said, you need the opposition to step up, and if they do it now, they are going to get cut down.

You don't force an election with a decapitation strike, you are doing it to try to force a regime change, and it's not going to end with that strike, the shock and awe in Iraq followed with 3rd Infantry Division, 82 Airborne division, 101 Airborne Division and 1st Marine division jump the fence from Kuwait to take over the country, we don't see any of that in Venezuela here.

Rise of far right in US specifically is because whites are on the verge of becoming majority minority. They want things to go back to the way it was. But time doesn’t flow backwards.

Russia lost a lot of soldiers in Ukraine. War is nearing 4 years and Russia has had a lot of struggles. Russias weapons are inferior to western weapons. Western combined intelligence is on another level entirely.
